Engineering Manager Galldris GroupLocation: Birmingham with visits to siteAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Manager to join our team in our Birmingham office with visits to sites. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering or Construction background.The Engineering Manager will be responsible and accountable for the leadership and management of the engineering and design management within the Birmingham region, with concentrated focus on the companys HS2 contract. The role will require the candidate to have the capacity to lead a team that can integrate proficiency in technology with problem-solving skills to identify and solve challenges. The primary role will include managing a team of engineers and technicians, creating project plans and setting technical objectives. The candidate will be required to use various equipment and systems to oversee design processes, maintain systems and meet client and companys evolving needs.Key Accountabilities to include but not limited to:Working with the team to ensure the delivery teams (Planning, Design, Bid Reviews, Temporary Works, Document Control, and Business Development) are suitably skilled and experienced to deliver a first-class serviceSet the highest standard for stakeholder management across the team and ensure that the teams uphold itEnsure both commercially and financially that all scope change is managed efficiently across the projectEncourage engineering innovation and value engineering during the design and construction process to reduce site-based construction activityLiaise with colleagues to leverage efficiencies, and cost savings and maximise margin improvement opportunitiesEnsure that all work is carried out in accordance with Company Safety Rules, Health & Safety Legislation, and Environmental standards and set standards in the Substations function for Safety by DesignSupport reviews into streamline Project delivery with Business Development Motivate the team to perform listening to people, providing feedback, recognizing strengths and providing challenges, and identifying and resolving peoples conflictsReview temporary works management and co-ordination across all projects within your remit.Support for the hiring process and restructuring to provide an efficient and talented workforce, by supporting the review of company protocols and practicesCarry out bid reviews including tender settlementsEnsure project planning, as well as bid planning, is supported from and engineering perspectiveReview and manage temporary works management and co-ordination across all projects in your region, complying with BS5975 and company procedures/processesProvide technical expertise across all projects in supporting issues such as value engineering, design challenges, temporary works solutions etcAct as support to the Technical Director as a trouble-shooter and problem solver on major business issues related to engineeringSupport the operations teams in the handover of Civil Engineering works and support in establishing that business streamUndertake other duties commensurate with the level of this positionComply with Company policies & proceduresEnsure the company complies with its CDM responsibilitiesEvaluate, manage and hold to account designers and design work the company is being contractor to adopt and highlight where undue risk is being adopted by the businessExperience/Knowledge:Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and decisionsHighly experienced leader with a track record of leading, coordinating and developing large teams across geographical locationsExperience in working within a multi-disciplined teamFamiliarity with resource planning, management and mobilisation, business development and tenderingExperience in client and stakeholder managementUnderstanding market analysis to identify opportunities to make informed business decisionsSkills:Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrable ability to champion and lead changeA passion for people managementSelf-motivatedResults drivenReliable to deliver on timeAble to work in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial work environmentQualifications:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalentChartered Engineer (member of a professional institution)Interested applicants must be eligible to work legally in the UK.Should you feel you have what it takes to be successful in this role then we would love to hear from you.Employee referral scheme - refer a friend or family member to work for Galldris.Galldris is an Equal Opportunities employer and does not discriminate against any protected characteristic.Note for Recruitment Agencies: We are not using Recruitment Agencies for this role.
