The position involves liaising closely with trading and commercial teams, as well as external advisors and customs authorities, across the EMEA region and beyond.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvising trading desks on indirect tax and customs duty implications of transactions across multiple jurisdictionsEnsuring compliance with global customs, VAT, and excise regulations, with a particular focus on EMEAMonitoring changes in relevant legislation, including FTAs and rules of originSupporting trading operations with customs clearance, classification, and documentationManaging relationships with customs authorities and external advisorsImplementing risk mitigation strategies relating to customs and indirect tax exposuresDelivering internal training and guidance to operational teamsCandidate Profile1015 years of experience in customs and indirect tax, ideally in the commodities or trading sectorStrong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and VATEMEA exposure essentialComfortable advising both commercial teams and regulatory bodiesCTA qualified (or equivalent), though QBE candidates with strong experience will also be consideredProactive, commercially-minded, and capable of working independentlyThis role is ideally suited to a seasoned professional looking to take a pivotal role within a high-calibre team in a global business.
