Job Title: Senior to Associate Director, Building Surveying Location: Birmingham, West Midlands (New Office) Salary: Competitive (Commensurate with experience) + Benefits Package About the Role A well-established multidisciplinary consultancy is expanding its presence with a new office in Birmingham. With a strong reputation for innovation, professional development, and excellence in service delivery, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor to take on a leadership role. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, manage complex projects, and mentor a dedicated team. This role offers a clear progression pathway from Senior Building Surveyor to Associate Director, with significant opportunities for career growth and business development. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Project Management Oversee and manage building surveying projects, including condition surveys, dilapidations, party wall matters, and remedial works. Provide expert technical advice and ensure all projects comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Team Management & Development Lead, mentor, and support a team of Building Surveyors, ensuring high-quality service delivery and professional growth. Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and one-to-one coaching. Client & Stakeholder Engagement Act as the primary point of contact for clients on high-profile projects. Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high standards of service and satisfaction. Business Development & Strategy Contribute to the growth and direction of the new Birmingham office. Identify and secure new business opportunities through networking and strategic partnerships. Oversee commercial aspects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and project profitability. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Chartered status (MRICS or equivalent) with relevant professional memberships (e.g., RIBA, CIAT, CIOB). Strong technical knowledge of building pathology, construction methods, and industry regulations. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client management skills. Experience in managing large-scale projects and leading a team. Commercial awareness, including budgeting and resource management. Full UK driving licence. Desirable: Experience in business development and strategic planning. Familiarity with surveying technologies and software (e.g., CAD, BIM).
