She requires support with all personal care needs, including changing clothes and nappies, administering medications and feeds through a gastrostomy tube, maintaining correct body posture, and assisting with all position transfers. Our daughter can only communicate her likes and dislikes through facial gestures; therefore, the Personal Assistant must be able to recognize and support her needs. The Personal Assistant must also recognize epilepsy attacks and react accordingly to the epilepsy plan, including administering rescue medication (e.g., Buccolam) if needed.
