Our team provides technical advice and delivers services to help policing and law enforcement organisations across the UK prioritise and focus on technology efforts. Key Responsibilities A Senior Cyber Architect will work with and lead the cyber architects, with responsibility to ensure National Policing systems and services have a clear strategic direction for Information Security and Risk (IS&R), through enterprise security architectural services, design services and directing product assessment and selection, including: Ensure that all security architecture activities and deliverables are consistent with principles, policies, standards, design patterns and align with national policing strategy. Consult, advise or oversee the secure design of information and communication systems to align with design patterns and national policing strategy. Review solutions using sound security architecture principles within PDS and UK police force environments, ensuring information systems are compliant with frameworks (NIST, ISO27001, CIS, OWASP), applicable laws, policies, and standards. Monitor security, technological, data, social and scientific trends and innovations that could influence PDS and policing's strategy and business plans, and share good practice and ideas to increase both agility and security with PDS stakeholders. Identify system and information risks that arise from potential solution architectures and initiate development of new security architectures to mitigate those risks. Apply innovative security architecture solutions to problems and be able to justify and communicate design decisions. Maintain the quality of security architecture artefacts, engagements, and manage escalations when they arise. Develop and maintain technical architecture patterns, reference architectures and non-functional requirements. Lead by example and drive the engagement of Cyber Architecture across PDS, National Systems and UK forces. Keep informed of new and emerging security threats & assess effectiveness of current controls to identify opportunities for improvement. To represent effectively and promote the reputation and values of PDS, the Policing family and Force's ICT Directorates at various meetings and groups both internally and externally, including the development of appropriate and constructive partnerships with relevant organisations. Work with CTO, CCA and Business Engagement teams to establish and maintain effective relationships with Home Office and other National policing bodies, forums and programmes to ensure ongoing alignment and efficiency, minimise duplication and ensure clear direction for Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies. What you need to succeed in the role Demonstrable and current experience in a senior security architectural role in large and complex organisation with equally complex service requirements. Proven experience of delivering security in one or more of the following cloud service provider environments: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Strong experience building security reference architecture for ?all-in' public cloud deployments and hybrid scenarios, including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. This will include requirements definition, architecture development, development of use cases and playbooks, systems integration, and testing. Experience in defining and/or implementing security controls across multiple layers of the IT architecture stack. Experience of working in a security architecture team, including the production of design documentation (HLDs, LLDs, blueprints etc.), supporting cloud architecture, design, implementation, operations, and automation in Azure AWS and GCP. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong engagement focus and proactive style, that motivates, builds trust and inspires staff and other delivery partners to engage with PDS productively. Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills. Commercially and technically astute problem solver who can quickly assimilate requirements and then combine broad technology knowledge and logical thinking to drive the structured strategic/tactical assessment of business and technology options.
