Job Description

ROLE: Product ManagerDEPARTMENT: Product TeamLOCATION: Hybrid - Clapton/RemoteWORK STATUS: PermanentHOURS PER WEEK: 24 - 40 hoursABOUT BLOKBLOK is an award winning boutique fitness studio operator. Were different from the rest of the industry that were in, from our beautiful, design-led spaces, to our focus on sustainable exercise with the goal of feeling great, not punishing our bodies into submission to burn calories.Whats different also extends to our product team. In an industry full of clunky, white label products were building exceptional digital experiences that elevate our customers experience both inside and outside of the studio. Were passionate about building first rate products, and using everything weve learned over careers in the tech industry to help people make meaningful positive difference in their lives. We run three highly successful locations (Clapton, Shoreditch, Manchester), and are on the cusp of rolling BLOK out across London and beyond.WHAT YOULL WORK ONOur physical product has 20+ different class types across 9 disciplines, running up to 40 classes each day per site. The magic of this is that it deeply engages customers in ways that single modality studios, or big box gyms just cant. When a customers tastes or interests change, they change their classes, but stay with BLOK. Retention curves for all cohorts eventually flatten, and we still have members who joined the first month we opened, in 2016.However theres another side to this coin. For a new customer, whos motivated to make exercise part of their life but is early in that journey, being dumped into a schedule with 40 classes to choose from each day can be bewildering. How do they know if they'd be better doing Mat Pilates or Reformer Pilates? What about Dynamica Vinyasa vs Power Yoga vs Yin Yoga vs Yin Yang Yoga?!These are problems we believe we can solve using tech. And were not just trying to educate on the technical differences between classes. The experience we want to build is one that provides everything a person needs to build a positive habit and make meaningful change in their lives - the encouragement, the advice, the accountability, and so on. This is what youll be working on.ABOUT YOUWere looking for someone that wants to get stuck in and help us make a difference in the lives of our customers. Its a cliche, but we really mean it when we say you should thrive in a fast-paced environment. Theres always a lot going on, and because were a small team we all get stuck in where we need to. While most of your work will be on the problem described above, you should be excited about using tech to solve problems big and small across the business (but also strong enough to push back when somethings a distraction from our core objectives). You should be passionate about great UX and want to deliver only the highest quality products, but also understand the need to release rapidly and keep moving forwards as quickly as possible. You should have the skill and judgement to be able to balance those opposing forces. We expect you to love data, and to want to talk to our customers to make rigorous decisions backed up with research, but also to back yourself to make quick, intuitive calls when you need to.Most of all were looking for someone that relishes working in fast-paced teams, with talented people, on work thats different every single day. Well be applying what we know and designing tests to learn what we dont, all so we can push BLOK forwards as quickly as possible. If this sounds like fun, we want to hear from you.EXPERIENCEIdeally 4+ years as a product manager.BENEFITSFull access to all BLOK studios for free - great for anyone who is interested in fitness.
