Role Overview The Data Scientist is an excellent opportunity to join a company at the beginning of our journey. This is the chance to join a team pioneering research into the ageing of the brain, neurodegeneration, and brain injury. The role that not only contributes to our research programmes but is tasked with establishing our data function as our wider computational team grows. We are seeking a Data Scientist who has experience of Machine Learning and Data Science techniques such as model selection, model validation and hyperparameter tuning. With a good understanding of advanced statistical models, experience of analysing health and / or biological data and the analysis of multimodal data. You will take ownership for the development of the relevant tools that are aligned to the research. To complement the focus on brain research you will have the opportunity to work across all of the research programmes we are currently running and all data types. In this role you will lead the development of tools, building analytical pipelines, design and deliver data infrastructure. You will be working with a scientifically diverse team with varied backgrounds including cell biology, molecular biology, and immunology for example. In addition to the core focus of this opportunity you will have the chance to explore your own areas of interest. With the platform provided to ensure that any concepts can be fully explored and commercialised. Key Responsibilities Lead the development of machine learning tools applicable to the research such as model selection & validation. As well as hyperparameter tuning. Develop methods for the comprehensive analysis of large data sets Create insights into the development of apps. Contribute to research programmes through the analysis of data and reporting of findings. Work with a collaborative team on a diverse range of projects covering different scientific disciplines and data sets Contribute to the design of studies and propose your own ideas for research programmes. Essential criteria Ph.D. in Data Science / Machine Learning or related field. Research experience in Neuroscience is advantageous. Demonstrable experience of model selection, model validation and hyperparameter tuning. Demonstrable experience of programming languages (Python, R etc.) and ability to handle large data sets. Experience working with neuroimaging data and processing pipelines Familiarity with Python and version control systems such as Github. Experience in working with and analysing multimodal data. A good knowledge of advanced statistical methods Experience working with health and/or biological data Experience as a Post Doc and / or Industry Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
