Were seeking a Principal Highway Development Control Engineer to lead on providing expert consultation responses and negotiating on larger major planning applications. This is a unique opportunity to play a senior role in transforming our transport infrastructure, influencing significant projects and making a meaningful difference in your community. As a Principal Engineer, you will provide highway and transport consultation responses on major planning applications. You will negotiate and oversee Section 278 and Section 106 Agreements to ensure the delivery of appropriate and sustainable transport infrastructure. Collaborating with planning officers, legal teams and developers, you will deliver balanced and high-standard solutions. You will also lead on complex projects, influencing and shaping major developments in alignment with Local Transport Policy. You will bring extensive experience in highway or traffic engineering, transport planning, or related disciplines. A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience, with membership in a professional body such as ICE, IHT, IHE, or CILT, is essential. Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills are required to effectively liaise with developers, legal teams, and community representatives.
