Job Summary: Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the role of the Fire Alarm Technician is to carry out or oversea Fire Protection installations, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and fault finding throughout various residential, commercial and industrial sites across Scotland. Must be capable of reading and interpreting complex technical drawings and standards whilst working both individually and as part of a team and also to direct and manage sub-contractors as and when necessary. Pointer Fire are looking for an experienced, hardworking and self-motivated individual who can demonstrate an exceptional knowledge of the Fire Protection industry designs. Strong technical know how is essential, coupled with self-motivation and good time management skills. Key Responsibilities: Install, test and commission fire alarm systems as per technical designs and standards To perform planned maintenance activities and routine inspections of fire alarm systems Fault find and repair system malfunctions and to identify and implement causes of false / unwanted alarms Provide technical training and support to clients and team members alike Have a strong technical understanding of fire industry standards and to ensure systems are installed and maintained in line with the industry fire codes To undertake all project results are achieved within both time and financial constraints Complete and submit all necessary paperwork / electronic system updates as required by the company To build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors alike Any other tasks as deemed appropriate to the position and requested by the Senior Management Team. Qualifications and Skills: Essential: Good working knowledge of Fire Industry standards. Strong technical knowledge of Fire Alarm and Fire Protection systems and designs. Physically fit and ability to work at height Good understanding of relevant Health and Safety at work activities (i.e Risk Assessment and Method Statements) Relevant Electrical installation training / qualification Desirable: Specific knowledge of Honeywell, Siemens and Hochiki Fire Alarm systems (training will be provided to the successful candidate). Experience: Fire industry knowledge with a minimum 5 years demonstratable experience is preferable but not essential as other similar experiences may be considered.
