SEND School Nurse We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 7 SEND School Nurse to lead health provision for a client based in heart of Cornwall. This role involves overseeing and delivering a range of specialist nursing procedures to support pupils with complex health needs, ensuring their access to education and visit sites throughout the country, working within a hybrid setting. Conduct initial health assessments for pupils prior to school entry, identifying necessary professional services to ensure holistic care and enable school attendance. Instigate and assist with medical reviews, liaising with professionals (Community Paediatricians, Physios, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians, Speech and Language Team, Community Nurses, and Social Workers). Contribute to the EHCP process and attend EHCP reviews, MDT, TAC, and CIN meetings as required. Provide care, including healthcare procedures and intimate care, to pupils with significant health needs, following healthcare plans to maintain their access to education. Provide and lead staff training for the Healthcare Team and Support Staff as directed, overseeing training records, coordinating key training, and managing staff competencies Trust-wide. Communicate effectively with colleagues, pupils, and families/carers, both verbally and in writing, using appropriate case notes and record-keeping practices. Supervise and line manage Healthcare Leads within the Trust, including appraisals, training oversight, competency management, and succession planning. Requirements: This role requires a registered nurse with current NMC registration and significant experience supporting special needs pupils, including expertise in complex care procedures (e.g., gastrostomy feeding, tracheostomy care, seizure management). Strong safeguarding knowledge, record-keeping, teamwork, and commitment to professional development are essential. The successful candidate must be able to develop and implement care plans, make clinical decisions, support staff, work collaboratively, demonstrate leadership, and engage respectfully with stakeholders.
