We have design hubs in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Motherwell, Perth, and Aberdeen together with additional office space in Dumfries, Ayr, Dundee, Nairn and Huntly.Amey deliver a range of local, national and international infrastructure projects for clients including Transport Scotland, Network Rail, National Highways, Local Authorities and Contractors. We have secured multiple long-term contracts and continue to grow and expand into new regions and markets.Recent / ongoing projects include:1.2bn Scotland North East and South West Trunk Road Network Management Contracts240m Avonmouth and Severn Bridges SBIM contract30m ADEPT Live Labs 2 Decarbonisation programme300m M8M73M74 Motorway ImprovementsMidlands Highway Alliance Plus consultancy framework1bn A66 Northern Transpennine10bn The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU)20M Lagan Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge120m Clyde Waterfront & Renfrew RiversideCarmyle-Westburn Viaduct80m Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland10m Forth Road Bridge Truss End Links ReplacementThe roleAs a Bridge Engineer, you will play an important part in every stage of a project from inception to completion.Key responsibilities of the role are:Implementing the project requirements to fully meet client specification with relevant standards.Undertaking any work of a technical nature that falls within ability and competence.Preparing and checking design approach, calculations drawing and documents.Carrying out site visits and surveys, inspections and supervise sub-contractors.Preparing and checking feasibility studies, inspection, assessment, and technical reports ensuring compliance with Amey procedures.Being confident to work under minimum supervision and check the work of others.Assisting with the supervision, mentoring and development of team members from Graduate Engineers and Technicians through to Assistant Engineers.Assisting with contract preparation together with project planning and programming.Compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, particularly CDM regulations.To work in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutionsPreparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programmeOverseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actionsLiaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queriesManaging a small, locally based single discipline technical team and taking responsibility for delivery of their workloadContributing to the preparation of bids and general working winning functionDrive effective health and safety practices within the teamWhat you will bring to us:Developed experience and expertise within Structural engineering field, probably gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalentBachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learningBachelors / Masters degree in Civil / Structural EngineeringChartered status (or working towards it) with ICE, IStructE or CIHT other appropriate professional bodyDemonstrable experience in the assessment, design and / or management of bridgesExcellent understanding of structural behaviour and analysisKnowledge of relevant codes and standards such as DMRB and / or EurocodesEnjoys working in a team environment; sharing ideas and collaborating with colleagues.Proactive approach and commitment to health, safety and welfare.Desirable Experience with highway structures and major bridgesExperience in FE analysis using Lusas, Atena or Midas softwareWhat we can offer you:At Amey, we recognise that our biggest asset is our people.
