Position:Fire Risk and Health & Safety Assessor (National Coverage)Employment Type:PermanentWorkplace: National Coverage, On the RoadReporting To:Principal Fire Risk AssessorSalary:50,00060,000 per annumLocation:Preferably in the Midlands, but national coverage so plenty of travel to be expectedKey Responsibilities:- Perform both fire risk assessments and health and safety risk assessments during a single visit- Successful application of professional knowledge with an ability to lead and conduct High-Risk fire risk assessments.- Consistent application of their skills to deliver quality outcomes for responsible people and duty-holders. Able to accept responsibility for finding complex solutions.- Experience leading fire risk and health & safety compliance across multiple sites or locations, ensuring implementation of action plans and resolution of identified risks.- Accountability by demonstrating behaviours that motivate others and inspire confidence, whether through direct consultancy work, in-house advisory roles, or compliance leadership across multiple stakeholders.- Carry out quality assurance, internal audit and validation of all Fire Safety activities, including Fire Risk Assessments, technical advice, fire door surveys, compartmentation surveys and any other project services-related activities as required.- Carry out business development activities as required.- Reporting to the Principal Fire Risk Assessors.- Carry out planned and reactive Fire Risk Assessments and in a variety of premise types across different industries in both Complex and Non-Complex environments.- Prepare, present and validate Fire Risk Assessments for clients providing fire safety advice both verbally and in a detailed written report which would include a fire safety action plan.- Keeps up to date with new and emerging Fire Risk Assessment issues in both a national and international context by dedicating additional periods of time beyond continuous professional development to continually expand their specific knowledge and learning of new developments, processes, guidance, legislation and risk-based developments.- Maintain alignment with the NSIs SP205 third-part accreditation scheme requirements, including updating the Instruction manual with any changes in requirements.- Provide technical fire safety advice to key stakeholders, which may include internal teams, external duty holders, or clients, ensuring compliance with UK Fire Safety Legislation- Provide other forms of support to clients which could include training provision, development of fire strategies, direct or indirect liaison with contractors, regulators etc. and bespoke support requested by the client. Work carefully to follow strict fire safety legislation, guidance and standards.- Work with others, such as fire services, buildings and facilities managers, surveyors, fire engineers and landlords to develop, amend and implement fire safety plans and provide fire safety advice to clients, both verbally and in a detailed written report which can include a fire safety action plan.- Carry out planned and reactive Fire Risk Assessments across multiple locations, including internal or external stakeholders, ensuring a structured approach to risk identification and mitigation.- Produce, review and validate in-depth reports to show findings from the assessments completed. These will mostly be written reports but, may require basic diagrammatic drawings and are likely to be recorded electronically.- Design, review and deliver training on fire safety in some roles.Requirements:- Experience managing fire risk and health & safety across multiple sites, departments, or organizations. Consultancy experience is beneficial but not mandatory if the candidate has worked in a multi-site advisory capacity- The fire risk assessor must have a full clean driving license and access to their own vehicle and be willing to travel throughout the UK as part of their day-to-day working activity.- There will be occasions when the assessor will need to stay away from home on a regular basis.- Fully conversant with current fire safety Legislation and technical standards as well as a full understanding of current fire safety issues, trends and best practices.- Completed a series of nationally recognised training courses and be listed on the nationally recognised register of fire risk assessors- MUST: NEBOSH certificate- Nice to have: Any of those certificate like (or others) Fire Risk Assessment Training (Level 3), Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) Membership or Certification, BAFE SP205 Certification (Fire Risk Assessors), IFSM (Institute of Fire Safety Managers) Membership, Fire Safety Awareness and Risk Assessment Training (via City & Guilds or IOSH), FRA Competency Council Guidance Alignment, level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (Fire Inspectors), Nationally Accredited Fire Risk Assessors Register (NAFRAR) or the IFE Register of Fire Risk Assessors.Benefits:- Competitive salary: 50,00060,000 per annum- Comprehensive training and development support.- Opportunity to work with a dynamic team and make a tangible impact on fire safety compliance.- Flexibility to work in various locations and engage with diverse stakeholders.Application Process:To apply, please submit your CV and a cover letter detailing your relevant experience and qualifications for the role.
