Golden Hello payable to direct applicants Markides Associates are seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer with a consultancy background to join their established infrastructure team to help address their ever-expanding workload. Ideally, we are ideally looking for an all-rounder, comfortable with drainage design from feasibility, producing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies for planning through to detailed drainage design both for highway drainage and on-plot drainage. About the RoleWe would expect the candidate to be well-versed in the use and application of relevant guidance and standards, actively involved in preparation of fee proposals and ongoing project management, able to deliver projects to budget, have the ability to delegate work to and guide and support more junior staff, and be confident in a client facing role, noting that we work for both private developers, public bodies and contractors.Requirements At least 5 years experience working in a UK consultancy on a range of drainage design schemes across all stages of a projectProficiency using industry-standard design packages including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Site 3D and InfoDrainage (or reasonable alternatives)A practical knowledge of relevant drainage design standards, guidelines and processesProficiency using Microsoft Office Suite of software, including ExcelCan multitask and manage a portfolio of projects across various scalesCan communicate effectively and professionally with the design team, clients, and contractorsGood written skills with proficiency in preparing reports such as Flood Risk Assessments and drainage Technical NotesUnderstand the multi-disciplinary nature of projects from the planning stage, through to completionChartered or working towards being chartered is welcomed, but not essentialSpecific ExperienceTechnical experience in the field of drainage design for Civil Engineering, covering several aspects of preliminary and detailed design, including the use of SuDSExperience liaising with both internal and external bodies, including planning authorities, Lead Local Flood Authority, statutory undertakers, and national bodies such as the Environment AgencyAttending client meetings and liaising with clients and other stakeholdersSection 104 / 106 / 185 drainage designs and applicationsDrainage designs in accordance with DMRB, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, CIRIA Guidance and Local Authority guidelinesDetailed design of on-plot drainage design (surface water and foul water) across multiple sectors including residential, commercial and industrialDetailed design of highway drainageModelling of SuDS features such as ponds/basins, tanks, rain gardens, swalesExperience of the tender process and construction phase, including responding to queries and RFIs from contractorsIdeal candidates would also have some knowledge of, or experience in highway design including preparation of Section 278 / 38 highway designs to highway designs to DMRB and Local Authority guidelines, vehicle tracking, design of residential estate roads, commercial/industrial accesses and car parks, ground modelling/earthworks design and pavement designs, however, this is not essential to the role.An Employee-led ApproachWe believe that our success is wholly due to the effort of our team and for that reason we became an Employee-Owned Trust in 2020, meaning that the company is owned by the people who work here, represented by an elected board of trustees.
