We partner with Arup to support contingent recruitment processes. On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Project Manager (Building/Construction) for a 12 month contract based in London. Candidate Profile: Key accountabilities, skills & experience The purpose of this project manager (PM) role is to oversee the development of the NWLA/LEL's facility in Wembley through the current design stage and moving it to delivery through procurement, and to eventual completion. The development of the NLWA's facility in Wembley is managed by London Energy Limited. This is an opportunity to work with LEL to make in impact in driving forward the investment to upgrade the Wembley facility by firstly working with LEL and the designers to complete a design that meets the asset owner's and operator's requirements. It needs someone with a construction background so that they can get to grips with what is has been done so far and steer it procurement and construction. The role ends with a successful completion of the project and facility improvements being in operation as business as usual. The project team which is led by the project manager includes staff and expertise from advisors and potentially staff from LEL and NLWA. The LEL Waste Management Facility in Wembley Project Manager is responsible for: The safe delivery of this project in line with the NLWA and LEL's health, safety and well-being procedures and applicable regulations to the improvement works. Safeguarding the environment through compliance with NLWA and LEL's environmental procedures and applicable regulations to the improvement works. The project management and leadership of this project from design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases to take over. Plan the scheduling of the project to deliver in a timely manner at an appropriate pace. Plan the works to minimise disruption to operations and agree in advance the taking over of operational areas for construction. Plan how construction areas within the operational area will be accessed and agree with the operator in advance. Consider in planning the need for temporary works and/or operating conditions needed to achieve the improvements. This is to be included in the design carried out by technical advisors. Consider planning and consenting requirements and plan for their applications, granting and discharging of requirements. Manage costs in line with the project budget and delegated levels of authority. (delegations to this role to be confirmed). Manage issues that arise in a collaborative and decision manner using the expertise in the project team. Manage risks to the project including the maintenance of a project risk register and actions to address, as agreed with the Programme Director. Skills and Qualifications The Project Manager will: Prioritise and lead health and safety with a good understanding of construction safety regulation and best practice. Have an engineering mindset to project management and be committed to working towards sustainable outcomes for projects. Be inclusive in leadership style. Be good setting objectives for team members and holding them to account. Have experience and skills in managing project team meetings so that they are effective. Make ethical decisions as befits a public sector project. Seek to maximise opportunities for bringing social value from the activities of the project. Have over 5 years' experience in the construction industry ideally with some experience in industrial operational environments. Have professional project management accreditation or engineering chartership or be working towards it under an accredited scheme.
