We are looking for an Industrial Paint Estimator who can understand our customers needs and from that calculate how much a proposed surface prep / painting project will cost. With responsibility for ensuring we provide clear, concise, and professional proposals, explaining cost breakdowns and any recommended work. So as an Industrial Paint Estimator, what will you do? Review project specifications, drawings, and scope of work Youll play a crucial role preparing detailed cost estimates for ship painting and blasting by accurately assessing labour, materials, rental plant and subcontracted services required for each project With technical knowledge of all types of surface preparation, and paint application techniques you will calculate how much a proposed client surface prep / painting project will cost to ensure projects are accurately priced and competitively bid Youll research prices and collect favourable negotiated quotes from suppliers and subcontractors compiling and maintaining a detailed and accurate price list to support surface prep and painting packages of work as well as maintain a database of historical project costs for future reference and pricing accuracy Checking and understanding the clients requirements and developing a Neway bid submission document youll manage the bid submission process. Youll provide clear, concise, and professional proposals, explaining cost breakdowns and any recommended work acting as the primary point of contact for clients addressing any questions, concerns, or clarifications regarding the estimate Providing ongoing support youll ensure estimates align with project goals and timelines monitoring approved projects to ensure costs stay in line with original budget forecasts Considering risk assessments and site-specific health and safety requirements youll ensure compliance with regulatory standards (environmental, H&S and internal quality control) Work closely with the project management team to ensure smooth handover of project details once the estimate is approved and investigate any deviations from the original quote and provide recommendations for cost adjustments And what are we looking for? Strong technical understanding of maritime paints and regulatory requirements Experience working with suppliers, and subcontractors where you have practiced strong communication interacting effectively with clients, internal teams, and vendors to build and maintaining long-term professional relationships Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously, diligently and with attention to detail. IT literate with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel. Effective organisation skills to ensure priorities, goals and deadlines are achieved.
