Job Title: Production ManagerDepartment: Manufacturing / ProductionJob Type: Full-TimeJob Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Production Manager to lead and transform our production team, which primarily focuses on welding and metal fabrication for custom builds. The Production Manager will play a key role in shaping the future of our operations, ensuring efficient production, maintaining the highest standards of quality, and supporting the growth of the team.Key Responsibilities:Team Leadership & Development:Lead a team of 5-7 production staff, largely focused on welding, with some fabrication responsibilities.Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture that encourages continuous improvement (CIP), personal development, and effective team communication.Provide training and mentorship to ensure team members' skills are up-to-date with industry standards and evolving needs.Production Planning & Coordination:Oversee day-to-day production activities, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of custom metal builds.Collaborate with other departments to schedule production runs and ensure the effective use of resources.Ensure adherence to production timelines, quality standards, and customer specifications.Quality Control & Process Improvement:Implement and maintain stringent quality control measures to ensure all custom metal builds meet high-quality standards.Drive continuous improvement initiatives (CIPs) to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize the production process.Troubleshoot and resolve any production issues, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and budgets.Health & Safety Compliance:Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety policies and procedures.Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.Lead by example in maintaining safe work practices and promoting a culture of safety within the team.Facility Development:Assist in the planning and specification of a new facility, expected to open in 2026/27, ensuring it meets production requirements and future growth.Collaborate with senior leadership, engineers, and facility designers to ensure the new space supports efficient workflows and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques.Skills & Qualifications:Proven experience in a production management role, ideally in a metalworking environment (welding, fabrication, custom builds).Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a small team.In-depth knowledge of welding and metal fabrication techniques.Experience with continuous improvement practices and process optimization.Sound understanding of health and safety standards, particularly within a manufacturing or industrial setting.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Proficiency in production planning software and MS Office.Desirable:Experience with custom metal builds or bespoke production processes.Previous involvement in facility design or layout planning for a new manufacturing site.Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
