You will perform hands-on development of new designs during the development phases along with other related activities such as prototype follow-ups, verification tests, troubleshooting, test setups, qualification testing, documentations, etcThe electrical engineer will also participate to elaborate design processes, test strategies and new technologies in-line with the Business Unit product roadmap. You will also provide hardware support for product introduction to manufacturing and support to on-going production.**Job duties**:- Design and document electronics for the Displays business unit- Define hardware architectures, design and develop electronic circuit design and PCB layouts, develop appropriate design verification and validation approaches and perform the design verification activities- Generate or modify VHDL code for custom functionality of FPGA- Generate or modify C code for embedded microcontroller based circuits- Provide technical solutions for the selection of electronic components for new and existing products- Design and document electronic test environment for the Display BU- Work with suppliers and provide technical guidance to manufacture circuit assemblies- Identify and resolve hardware issues with component obsolescence and manufacturability of display products components;- Build prototype parts, cables, and test fixtures- Create technical documentation and users manuals- Assign part numbers for drawings, documents and generate Bill of Materials (BOMs)- Prepare, incorporate and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)- Support and troubleshoot complex RMA failure modes- Carry out analyses, validations/verifications test and follow-up of prototypes- Work in collaboration with a team of multidisciplinary professionals- Technical assistance to marketing (technical solution, discussions with external customers, demo units, etc )- Provide support to New Product Introduction (NPI) and Production- Participate in R&D development projects**Qualifications**:- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering;- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience;- Design of analog/digital circuits, power supply, microcontrollers, debugging tools and LCD displays (characters/graphics, monochrome/color);- Experience in analyzing safety and reliability requirements;- Ability to use basic electronic test equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.**Asset**:- FPGA (VHDL), āCā programming language- Familiar with the development of Operating Systems and embedded software- C/C++ Programming Language; experience with Python is a plus- Ability to solder and use prototyping tools- Experience with Mentor PADS Schematic and Layout software a plus- Processes for avionics certification like DO-254 HW development and DO-178 SW development- Background of military & Aerospace standards with direct experience to meet RTCA/DO-160 Environmental Testing, MIL-TSD-810 and MIL-STD-461 and military standards- Effective written/verbal communication skills; computing skills (Windows, Microsoft Office)Additional InformationThis position will train in our Montreal Canada office 2 weeks at a time for the first 6 months; then continued travel approximately 3x per year.
