Job Summary: The Head of Vessel Accounting & Finance will be responsible for overseeing financial operations related to vessel accounting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, optimizing cost structures, and enhancing financial efficiency across the shipping business. The role requires strong expertise in vessel finance, cost management, budgeting, reporting, and regulatory compliance within the maritime industry.Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage vessel accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with global and local accounting standards (IND AS, IFRS, GAAP).Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting related to vessel operations, including operating expenses, dry-docking costs, and capital expenditures.Develop and maintain cost control mechanisms to monitor vessel profitability and ensure cost optimization.Ensure timely and accurate financial consolidation of multiple vessel-owning entities within the organization.Collaborate with technical and commercial teams to assess financial implications of vessel chartering, fuel costs, and maintenance expenses.Manage financial risk related to vessel financing, lease agreements, and foreign exchange exposure.Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including GST, TDS, and other statutory obligations applicable to the maritime industry.Drive automation and system improvements for vessel accounting, integrating with ERP (SAP or equivalent) for efficient data management.Liaise with internal and external auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions for audits, tax filings, and financing arrangements.Develop and mentor a team of vessel finance professionals, ensuring continuous learning and capability enhancement.Key Requirements:Inter CA/MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualification.10-12 years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably in the shipping, logistics, or maritime sector.Strong knowledge of vessel finance, operating models (chartering, ownership, leasing), and associated cost structures.Expertise in financial reporting, statutory compliance, and taxation related to vessel operations.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience in managing financial operations for a fleet of vessels.Understanding of international taxation and transfer pricing for vessel-owning entities.Knowledge of financial structuring for vessel acquisitions and financing arrangements.
