Job Description

Position: Strategic Procurement Manager Location: Hyderabad Area to Cover: India, Middle East, and South Africa Experience: 15+ years Qualifications: BE/B. Tech; post-graduation preferredRole Summary:The Strategic Procurement Manager will oversee the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, ensuring effective negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder collaboration to maximize business value. This role requires expertise in category procurement, service agreement finalization, and equipment leasing/renting to support both operational and strategic objectives. Approximately 10% of the role will involve transactional responsibilities, with a strong focus on procurement strategy.Key Responsibilities:1. Category Procurement & Service Agreements:Lead the finalization of category buying and service agreements, including equipment leasing and hiring.Conduct detailed evaluations of leasing and renting options for various equipment.2. Economic Viability & Decision Support:Assess the life cycle cost of products and propose hiring vs. owning recommendations to leadership.Develop cost-saving initiatives and optimize operational budgets in line with business goals.3. Strategic Negotiation & Planning:Conduct negotiations to secure optimal terms for the organization.Utilize historical data analysis, forecasting, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) assessments to drive strategic procurement decisions.4. Regulatory & Safety Compliance:Ensure adherence to all local statutory, regulatory, and safety compliance requirements in procurement processes.5. Contract Management & Risk Mitigation:Draft, review, and manage contracts with provisions for Liquidated Damages (LD), penalties, and bonuses to protect business interests.Mitigate risks by clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and deliverables in contracts.6. Stakeholder Collaboration:Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support informed decision-making.Work with cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with organizational needs.7. Issue Resolution & Post-Procurement Support:Manage post-Purchase Order (PO) disputes, reconciliation, and ensure smooth issue resolution with site operations and contractors.8. Process Improvement & Innovation:Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and implement innovative solutions for enhanced efficiency and cost-effectiveness.Leverage digital tools and analytics to streamline procurement functions.9. Vendor Management:Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors.Ensure vendor compliance with organizational standards and expectations.10. Team Collaboration:Work closely with site buyers and strategy teams to enhance overall procurement performance.Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation within the team.11. Procurement MIS & Reporting:Track and report cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives.Monitor and manage spend under Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPA) and Contract Purchase Agreements (CPA).Prepare and submit monthly procurement reports.Track vendor delivery performance and ensure timely execution.Key Competencies & Skills:Strong background in engineering and industry procurement.Expertise in strategic procurement, contract management, and negotiation.Deep understanding of equipment leasing, renting, and financial analysis.Proficiency in commercial instruments such as bank guarantees and Letters of Credit.Experience in imports, working with freight forwarders, customs clearance, and logistics.Advanced skills in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis and data-driven decision-making.Strong understanding of regulatory and safety compliance in procurement.Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.Proven ability to mitigate risks, define commercial terms, and drive business value.Familiarity with ERP systems and continuous improvement methodologies.Strong analytical skills with expertise in Excel and PowerPoint.Please write to prasad.m@ to get connected!
