Job Title: Interior Design FacultyDepartment: Interior DesignLocation: BengaluruReports To: Chair of the Interior Design DepartmentPosition OverviewWe are seeking a talented and passionate Interior Design Faculty member with a background in architecture to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in architectural principles and apply them to interior design education. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching interior design courses, guiding students through studio work and projects, and contributing to the development of a robust academic curriculum.Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Instruction:Teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in interior design, incorporating architectural principles.Develop and update syllabi, lesson plans, and course materials that align with current trends and best practices in both architecture and interior design.Deliver lectures, coordinate design studios, and supervise student projects.Provide constructive feedback to students and encourage critical thinking and design innovation.Foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment that supports student growth and creativity.Curriculum Development:Collaborate with faculty to refine and develop the interior design curriculum, integrating architectural concepts and theories.Emphasize the relationship between architecture and interior design, including topics such as spatial planning, human-centered design, and sustainable environments.Incorporate new technologies and digital tools, such as BIM (Building Information Modeling), AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc., into the teaching process.Research and Professional Engagement:Conduct research or creative work in interior design or architecture, contributing to the academic community.Participate in design competitions, publish research, and present findings at conferences.Keep up with industry trends, innovations, and sustainable design practices to inform teaching and practice.Department and University Service:Attend departmental meetings, participate in university committees, and assist with program development and accreditation processes.Actively contribute to student recruitment and outreach initiatives.Advise students on academic and career-related matters, providing mentorship and guidance.QualificationsEducation:A Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) or higher degree in Architecture or a closely related field.Professional licensure in Architecture (e.g., registered architect) is preferred, but not mandatory.Experience:Minimum of 2years of professional experience in architecture or interior design practice.Prior teaching experience in interior design, architecture, or related fields at the university level is desirable.Experience using design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.Skills and Abilities:Strong understanding of architectural principles and their application to interior design.Proficiency in contemporary design software and digital tools.Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills.Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in a fast-paced academic environment.
