This role will design and optimize oral formulations while working closely with drug discovery, analytical, and regulatory teams.The ideal candidate will play a key role in formulation development, bringing strong scientific problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to advance innovative drug products from early development to commercialization.Principal Scientist – Advanced Drug Delivery: We are seeking a scientist in advanced drug delivery to research, innovate, and develop novel drug delivery platforms. This role requires a visionary scientist who can innovate, establish partnerships, and expand drug delivery capabilities while contributing to preclinical and clinical development programs.The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in advanced formulation design, solid-state and biophysical characterization, polymer-based delivery systems, and controlled-release formulations. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with R&D, regulatory, clinical, and external partners to advance pipeline molecules through innovative delivery technologies.Key Responsibilities:Senior Scientist:Create formulation designs for small molecule drug candidates in the development pipeline, ensuring biopharmaceutical and physicochemical properties are optimizedDevelop and optimize oral dosage forms (tablets, capsules, suspensions, etc.), incorporating cutting-edge solubility and bioavailability enhancement strategiesInterface with drug product development teams to ensure that drug solubility, permeability, and stability considerations are integrated into formulation designDevelop and characterize amorphous solid dispersions, using advanced technologies such as spray drying, hot melt extrusion, and granulationAdvance scientific expertise within the function and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovationIdentify and develop new formulation technologies that improve the capability to formulate challenging small moleculesStay updated on emerging trends in formulation science, proposing and implementing new methodologies to enhance drug development efficiencyWork closely with drug discovery teams, process development, and regulatory teams to align formulation strategies with development objectivesEnsure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory policies, including FDA, EMA, and ICH guidelinesSupport CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing & Controls) documentation and provide technical expertise for regulatory filings (IND, NDA, ANDA)Facilitate knowledge sharing and cross-functional problem-solving to accelerate drug development timelinesPrincipal Scientist:Advance research projects by demonstrating technical characterization techniques to evaluate drug-excipient interactions, stability, and performanceDevelop delivery systems for modulating the release of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) using polymer-based technologies and advanced formulation approachesAnalyze complex datasets with a high degree of sophistication, integrating biophysical, preclinical, and computational data to guide formulation strategiesUse AI-driven predictive modeling and machine learning tools to optimize drug release kinetics, solubility, and bioavailabilityMaintain a deep understanding of theoretical knowledge and emerging trends in drug delivery sciences through continuous evaluation of scientific literature and competitor intelligenceEstablish and lead academic and industrial partnerships to complement internal R&D efforts and accelerate drug delivery innovationsIdentify and manage external collaborations with biotech startups, CDMOs, and academic researchersBuild and maintain Experience:Senior Scientist:MS in Pharmaceutics, Physical Pharmacy, Biopharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 8-10 years of formulation experiencePh.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experienceStrong expertise in oral solid dosage formulation development (tablets, capsules, suspensions)Experience with dry/wet granulation, spray drying, hot melt extrusion, tableting, and coating technologiesDeep understanding of physicochemical and biopharmaceutical properties as they relate to formulation designHands-on experience in pre-formulation studies, solubility enhancement, and controlled-release formulationsStrong knowledge of QbD (Quality by Design), DOE (Design of Experiments), and risk assessment in formulation developmentExpertise in formulations and technology transferExperience with regulatory filings (IND, NDA, ANDA) and CMC documentationPrincipal Scientist:Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 10+ years of relevant industry experience (combination of postdoctoral and industry experience considered), OR Master’s Degree with 16+ years of industry experienceDeep expertise in advanced drug delivery principles, across multiple modalities and routes of administration (oral, injectable, transdermal, etc.)Hands-on experience in formulating and characterizing advanced drug delivery systems for both oral and parenteral administrationProven track record of scientific contribution and innovation within the advanced drug delivery fieldStrong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver compelling presentations to internal and
