Key Responsibilities:Backup Management:Install, configure, and maintain enterprise backup tools such as Veritas NetBackup,Avamar, Veeam, CommVault,Cohesity,Acronis, or other industry-standard solutions.Implement and manage cloud backup solutions using providers like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.Data Protection & Recovery:Develop and execute backup strategies, policies, and schedules to ensure data availability.Test disaster recovery plans and ensure seamless data recovery processes.Maintain backup retention policies to meet compliance and business needs.Tape Library Management:Manage and maintain tape library systems, including troubleshooting and replacing hardware when necessary.Monitor tape usage and perform periodic offsite storage rotations.Monitoring & Troubleshooting:Monitor backup jobs for completion and identify/resolve failed jobs promptly.Analyze backup system logs and performance metrics to improve reliability and efficiency.Documentation & Reporting:Maintain accurate documentation of backup configurations, schedules, and processes.Provide regular reports on backup performance and storage utilization.Collaboration:Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to ensure backups align with business requirements and SLAs.Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in data protection and backup solutions.Required Skills and Experience:Minimum 5 years of experience in backup administration, including hands-on experience with enterprise backup tools.Strong understanding of backup and recovery methodologies, including full, incremental, and differential backups.Proficiency with cloud backup services (AWS Backup, Azure Backup, Google Cloud Storage, etc.).Experience with tape libraries, including hardware and software integration.Familiarity with storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, and DAS.Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows/Linux) and networking concepts.Ability to automate backup processes using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash).Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
