Department: Manufacturing Position: GM – Manufacturing (Plant Head) Reports to: AVP - Technical Location: Whitefield, BangalorePosition Overview: As the General Manager of Manufacturing in a pharmaceutical company specializing in solid oral dosage formulations, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the manufacturing facility. This includes managing the production of pharmaceutical products, overseeing plant operations, engineering activities, and warehouse management. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the manufacturing processes, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.Key Responsibilities: 1. Manufacturing Operations Management: Oversee and optimize the manufacturing processes for solid oral dosage formulations, ensuring adherence to quality standards, cost-effectiveness, and timely production. Develop and implement manufacturing strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and safety. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish production schedules, allocate resources, and monitor progress to meet production targets. Identify bottlenecks, implement process improvements, and leverage technology to streamline operations and enhance product quality. 2. Plant Operations and Maintenance: Provide leadership and direction to the plant operations team, including production supervisors, engineers, and technicians. Ensure the plant facility is maintained to high standards, complying with regulatory requirements, safety guidelines, and environmental regulations. Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and implement maintenance plans, equipment upgrades, and capital projects. Monitor and control operating costs, manage budgets, and optimize resource utilization to achieve operational goals. 3. Warehouse and Inventory Management: Oversee warehouse operations, including receipt, storage, distribution, and inventory management of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products. Implement inventory control measures to minimize stock variances, optimize stock levels, and prevent stockouts or overstocking. Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of materials and optimize procurement strategies. Implement and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in warehousing and inventory management processes. 4. Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA guidelines, and other relevant standards. Collaborate with quality assurance and quality control teams to develop and implement quality systems, procedures, and metrics. Conduct regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify non-compliance issues and implement corrective actions. Foster a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence throughout the manufacturing facility. 5. Leadership and Team Management: Provide strong leadership to the manufacturing team, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting employee engagement, development, and performance. Set performance goals and objectives, conduct performance reviews, and provide coaching and mentoring to team members. Promote a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards, and implementing appropriate training programs. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 20 – 25 years of Experience in heading plant operation of pharma OSD formulation unit out of which Last 3 years as Plant Head.QUALIFICATION: Bachelor's or master’s degree in pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferredKey Competencies: • Handling major Audit like EU, TGA MHRA USFDA in last 2 years. • Extensive experience in manufacturing operations management, preferably in pharmaceutical solid oral dosage formulations. • Strong knowledge of GMP, FDA regulations, and other relevant regulatory standards. • Proven track record of successfully leading manufacturing operations and driving continuous improvement initiatives. • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels. • Familiarity with ERP systems, manufacturing automation, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies is desirable. • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams, customers, and regulatory agencies.
