Summary of Responsibilities (Not Comprehensive of All Tasks): Aircraft Mechanical Components (Oil / Hydraulics / Pneumatics / Fuel / Cabin / Furnishings & Parts Repair): Support the maintenance and repair of oil, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, and mechanical components. Develop and implement maintenance procedures and modifications to improve system reliability. Perform technical analyses and provide recommendations for operational improvements. Avionics: Assist in the maintenance and repair of avionics systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Develop and implement modifications and upgrades to avionics systems. Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving avionics issues. General Responsibilities: Collaborate to ensure seamless integration and communication. Interface with the maintenance organization, fleet engineering, materials, supply chain, IT, and other support teams across the enterprise. Participate in work scope planning, configuration specification, and analytics. Collect data for out-of-limits damage conditions and assist in developing repair solutions. Support the development of Shop Visit Reports and Failure Investigation Reports. Develop repairs/alterations for aircraft components, and prepare engineering data to substantiate the change in accordance with applicable CFRs. Maintains compliance with applicable FAA, DOT, OSHA and EPA regulations, foreign regulatory requirements and Delta's Technical Operations Policy and Procedures (TOPP) and all other engineering processes. Provide status for projects/issues through various briefings and documentation. Prepare and conduct Engineering Working Group meetings. Revise numerous FAA approved Manuals and Engineering Reports. Facilitate collaboration and constant communication with Manufacturers and the FAA ACO and FSDO / CMO. Irregular shift hours may be required, on rare occasion, due to critical requirements. What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications): Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 3-5 yrs. aviation related experience, or Master's Degree in Engineering with 1-3 yrs. aviation related experience, or Ph.D. Degree in Engineering, or 5-9 years in a technical aviation related discipline with 2-3 yrs. in an aviation engineering organization with a focus on component maintenance, reliability programs and repair design. Previous Airline, Military, OEM or MRO experience with commercial aircraft is strongly preferred. Familiarity with airline flight operations and support systems, 14 CFR 121 dispatch regulations and 14 CFR 145 repair station regulations are desired. Must have strong customer service orientation and relationship management skills, strong project management skills; written and verbal communication skills; multi-tasking abilities; proven results-orientation; and strong analytical, organizational and time management skills. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, DraftSight, SolidWorks or similar, desired. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Considerable latitude is provided in determining technical objectives of assignment. High impact work requires minor review. Extensive knowledge and technical expertise related to the principles, theories, and concepts pertaining to his/her job function. A wide knowledge of other engineering-related disciplines is also desired. Accurately anticipates the not so obvious impact of various solutions to technical problems. Provides feasible alternatives to solve complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Provides technical guidance, assistance, and work direction to Senior Engineers and Engineers. The winning candidate must be an excellent orator of effective communication to not only the team but the division and industry collectively. Technical knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance processes, manuals, and FAA/ EASA regulatory requirements. Experience with the repair or design of aircraft systems and components. Strong interpersonal skills. Willingness to travel as required. Additional Experience Preferred: Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Smartsheet, SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, R, Python, Skywise). Experience with data centralization, architecture, and business rules for data analytics. Proficiency in various manufacturing processes, such as machining / fabrication, plating, painting, coating application, welding, etc. Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, etc.
