Position Overview: The Head of Intellectual Property will be responsible for leading SS Innovations' efforts in managing and protecting its intellectual property assets. This role requires a deep understanding of IP laws and strategies, as well as a proactive approach to safeguarding innovations, maintaining compliance, and fostering IP value within the company. Key Responsibilities: IP Strategy & Management: Develop and execute a comprehensive IP strategy aligned with the company's innovation and business goals. This includes managing patent, design, trademark and copyright. Patent Drafting & Prosecution: Have vast experience in patent drafting and prosecution high-quality patent applications. Patent & Trademark Portfolio Management: Oversee the filing, prosecution, and enforcement of patents, trademarks, and other IP rights. Ensure the protection of new inventions and technologies by collaborating with internal teams and external law firms. Licensing & Agreements: Negotiate and draft licensing agreements, joint development agreements, and other IP-related contracts to maximize the value of SS Innovations' intellectual property. Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) Analysis and patentability search: Conduct thorough analyses to ensure the company’s products do not infringe on existing patents and advise on potential risks. IP Risk Management: Identify and manage potential IP risks, including infringement, misappropriation, and litigation. Proactively advise the leadership team on IP-related risks and mitigation strategies. IP Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Lead or coordinate the defence or enforcement of the company's IP rights in case of infringement or disputes. Work with external legal counsel when necessary. Internal Collaboration & Education: Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure the protection and proper use of intellectual property. Educate internal teams on best practices related to IP. IP Portfolio Analysis: Regularly assess the company's IP portfolio for strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for strategic growth. Develop recommendations for IP acquisitions, divestitures, or monetization. Global IP Management: Manage the international IP portfolio, ensuring compliance with global IP laws and regulations. Oversee the filing and prosecution of IP rights in foreign jurisdictions. Innovation Promotion: Support the company's innovation culture by identifying new opportunities for IP creation and ensuring proper documentation of innovations from inception to commercialization. Qualifications: Education: Certified Patent Agent A law degree (LLB or equivalent) with a specialization in intellectual property law, or a technical degree (B.E./B. Tech) combined with advanced IP law qualifications. Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in intellectual property law, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in managing large and complex IP portfolios, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Industry Experience: Previous experience in technology, innovation-driven industries (e.g., healthcare, engineering, or software development) is preferred. Skills & Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of IP laws and regulations, including patent law, trademark law, and international IP treaties. Experience with IP litigation and dispute resolution. Strong negotiation skills and experience in licensing and IP agreements. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to analyse and prioritize strategic business needs in relation to IP.
