Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Port Captain with in-depth knowledge of stowage planning for project cargo, breakbulk, and bulk cargo operations. The ideal candidate will support our SecureLoad software development team by contributing technical expertise in cargo engineering, stowage planning, and process optimization. This role involves generating feature ideas, engaging with clients, testing product functionality, and ensuring that our software meets industry standards for efficiency, safety, and user experience. The role also requires travel for exhibitions, client meetings, and product demonstrations worldwide. Key Responsibilities Lead the development of stowage planning and cargo engineering features. Suggest product improvements to streamline stowage planning processes. Validate cargo stability, securing, and lashing calculations per industry standards. Work with developers, UX designers, and product managers to design technical features. Test new product features, run simulations, and identify bugs. Evaluate product usability through real-world stowage planning scenarios. Ensure feature performance meets maritime standards like IMO, SOLAS, and DNV. Represent the company at global exhibitions, conferences, and client meetings. Present technical demonstrations and conduct in-depth product workshops. Collaborate with clients to understand their cargo planning needs and propose tailored solutions. Stay up-to-date on the latest shipping regulations, cargo securing techniques, and technology trends. Ensure the product aligns with international standards, including IMO CSS Code and IMDG/ ISM/ISPS codes. Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nautical Science, Maritime Studies or related field. Minimum of 8 years in stowage planning, cargo operations, or as a Port Captain. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Rhino, Load Planner, ViDeck, or similar software. Familiarity with IMO CSS Code, SOLAS, and DNV standards. Strong problem-solving ability focused on cargo stability, stowage optimization, and risk management. Strong leadership, team management, and technical communication skills. Availability to travel globally for client meetings, exhibitions, and technical discussions. Preferred Skills and Qualifications Certifications related to cargo securing or marine operations. Experience with shipping line operations or maritime logistics. Familiarity with international maritime guidelines such as SOLAS, IMO, and DNV standards.
