Job Description

What a typical day at work would look like? As a Senior Manager - Legal, your day will involve a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the organization's legal functions. Here's what a typical day might look like: 1. Multi-Entity Case Management: Oversee the intake, assessment, and categorization of legal cases across different entities, determining priority, risk, and jurisdictional considerations. Maintain an entity-specific docket of ongoing cases, tracking milestones, deadlines, and jurisdictional nuances. Coordinate court dates, deadlines, and other critical litigation timelines across all entities to prevent scheduling conflicts. Ensure accurate, organized, and accessible records across all cases by creating and managing entity-specific documentation. 2. Legal Research & Cross-Entity Analysis: Conduct jurisdiction-specific research on legal precedents, regulations, and case law relevant to each entity's location. Review past cases within each entity and perform comparative analyses to establish a cohesive company-wide legal approach. Evaluate entity-specific risks, considering business operations, local regulatory factors, and historical litigation trends. Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations for each entity, assessing potential impacts on current and future cases. 3. Litigation and Prelitigation Strategy Development Across Entities: Develop tailored litigation and Pre - litigation strategies that align with each entity's unique business needs and legal landscape. Conduct cost-benefit analyses for pursuing versus settling cases for each entity, factoring in regional financial priorities. Coordinate settlements or alternative dispute resolutions (ADR) for each entity, maintaining consistency in approach where possible. Prepare outcome-specific contingency plans for each entity, recommending follow-up actions aligned with individual entity goals and risks. 4. External Counsel & Management by Entity: Select and manage external counsel with expertise in each entitys local jurisdiction and industry-specific litigation needs. Monitor external counsel fees for each entity and ensure budget compliance across all entities. Ensure external counsel for each entity is well-coordinated, maintaining alignment with overall company legal objectives. Assess the effectiveness of external counsel specific to each entitys requirements and report on inter-entity performance. 5. Pre-Trial Preparation for Multi-Entity Cases: Gather documents and evidence for each entitys cases, ensuring accuracy and local compliance. Manage discovery processes for each entity, including e-discovery, depositions, and interrogatories, adhering to each jurisdictions standards. Draft, review, and file pleadings and motions as per each entitys jurisdictional requirements. Coordinate and prepare witnesses specific to each entity, accounting for local legal expectations along with giving evidence in courts on behalf of the entities. 6. Court Proceedings & Representation: Ensure timely and compliant filing of pleadings, motions, and responses across different jurisdictions. Represent the company in court for each entity or coordinate local representatives where necessary. Manage evidence presentation and expert witnesses tailored to each entitys unique legal environment. Conduct training sessions tailored to the litigation risks unique to each entity. 7. Provide Strategic advisories on all complex matters Provide advisories as required by entities to prevent any potential litigations Provide solutions to business across entities in interpreting contracts, law or policies to leverage benefits for the company in lieu of litigations. 8. Any other responsibilities as assigned from time to time. Your Key Knowledge Areas shall be:- Attention to Detail and Legal Acumen: Demonstrated expertise in interpreting and applying complex legal provisions, with a meticulous approach to legal documentation and compliance. Advanced Communication Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication abilities, enabling effective interaction with senior management, external counsel, and regulatory authorities. Proficient IT Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint for presentations, and extensive experience with online legal research platforms such as Manupatra, SCC Online, and other specialized legal tools. Leadership and Team Management: Proven experience in leading legal teams, fostering collaboration, and driving performance to achieve organizational objectives. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement legal strategies that align with business goals and mitigate risks across multiple jurisdictions. What do you bring with you? Education Qualifications: LLB Graduate, LLM and other domain specific certifications is preferable Experience : Should have 8-12 years of experience with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity. Preferred Industry experience: staffing and recruitment, law firms or any service industry
