Job Description

We are a leading healthcare provider specializing in advanced surgical care and patient-centered services. We are looking for a dedicated Medical Counselor / Assistant to Surgeon with an BHMS, BAMS, MBBS degree to assist in patient consultations, counseling, pre-operative and post-operative care. This role is integral to ensuring seamless clinical operations and optimal patient outcomes.Job Overview:The ideal candidate will work closely with the surgeon in all aspects of patient care, from initial consultation through surgery and recovery. The role involves a mix of clinical and procedural responsibilities, requiring excellent medical knowledge, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.Key Responsibilities:Patient Consultation & Counseling:• Assist the surgeon during consultations by reviewing patient medical histories, summarizing key findings, and ensuring accurate documentation.• Provide medical counseling to patients about diagnoses, treatment options, and surgical plans in an empathetic and clear manner.• Address patient questions and concerns, ensuring they understand the procedure, associated risks, and recovery process.Pre-Operative Care:• Ensure all pre-operative preparations are complete, including coordinating necessary diagnostic tests, lab results, and medical clearances.• Explain pre-operative instructions to patients, such as fasting requirements, medication protocols, and preparation steps.• Ensure surgical instruments, supplies, and the operating room are prepped according to procedural requirements.Post-Operative Care & Follow-Up:• Monitor patients post-surgery, assisting with wound care, dressing changes, and administering medications if needed.• Provide detailed post-operative instructions, including medication schedules, wound care protocols, and activity restrictions.• Coordinate and schedule follow-up visits, and assist in monitoring patient recovery.• Support patients with guidance and reassurance throughout their recovery process.Administrative Duties:• Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including pre- and post-operative notes and follow-up documentation.• Coordinate with the surgical and administrative teams to schedule surgeries and manage related documentation.• Oversee inventory of surgical and clinical supplies, ensuring timely restocking.Requirements:• Education: BHMS, BAMS, MBBS degree from a recognized medical college, with full registration under the Medical Council of India (MCI) or equivalent.• Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience; experience assisting in surgical procedures is preferred.• Strong knowledge of medical and surgical procedures, instruments, and aseptic techniques.• Excellent communication and counseling skills to address patient concerns and queries effectively.• Proficiency in medical documentation and familiarity with electronic health record systems.Preferred Qualifications:• Experience in assisting with both minor and major surgical procedures.• Knowledge of pre- and post-operative care protocols and ability to educate patients effectively.• Advanced certifications in surgical assistance or related specialties are a plus.
