A renowned company of Saudi Arabia is looking for Optical fiber technician An Optical Fiber Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic networks. Their key responsibilities include: 1. Installation & Setup Installing fiber optic cables in underground conduits, aerial poles, or within buildings. Splicing, terminating, and testing fiber optic cables. Configuring and mounting network equipment such as switches, routers, and optical network terminals (ONTs). Ensuring proper cable routing and labeling. 2. Maintenance & Repair Troubleshooting and diagnosing fiber optic network issues. Performing fiber splicing and fusion splicing to repair damaged cables. Replacing faulty fiber components and ensuring network integrity. Testing fiber optic links using OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) and power meters. 3. Documentation & Safety Keeping records of fiber routes, splicing details, and network configurations. Following safety guidelines when working with high-voltage equipment and confined spaces. Coordinating with other teams, such as civil engineers or network administrators. 4. Customer Support & Communication Assisting customers with fiber-related issues and installations. Providing guidance on fiber optic equipment and network expansion. Working with ISPs, contractors, and telecom providers to ensure service quality. 5. Upgrading & Expanding Networks Assisting in network expansion projects by laying new fiber cables. Upgrading older fiber networks to higher-capacity systems. Implementing new technologies like FTTH (Fiber to the Home) or FTTB (Fiber to the Building).
