Job Summary: As a Data Governance Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining Aviatrix's data governance framework. This position will have a significant impact on our data infrastructure by promoting best practices, enhancing data transparency, and establishing policies that enable seamless cross-functional collaboration. You’ll play a key role in empowering teams to use data effectively while ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality and compliance. Duties/Responsibilities: Data Governance Framework: Design, implement, and manage an efficient, scalable data governance framework that promotes data quality, security, and compliance. Data Quality & Compliance: Develop and enforce data quality and validation processes across the organization to maintain high standards in data reliability and usability. Data Cataloging & Lineage: Establish and maintain data cataloging practices, ensuring complete data lineage across all data sources, including MySQL, Snowflake, and other platforms. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the central point of contact for data governance, collaborating with Data Engineering, Product Innovation, and Security teams to implement data governance practices. Security & Access Controls: Work with the DevOps and Security teams to ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) by implementing appropriate access controls and permissions. Documentation & Best Practices: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation on data governance policies, data lineage, and best practices to promote a data-driven culture. Proactive Monitoring: Continuously monitor data pipelines and alert relevant teams of any potential issues related to data quality, lineage, or compliance. Tool Evaluation: Identify and recommend tools and technologies that support data cataloging, quality monitoring, and metadata management to enhance governance capabilities. Metrics & KPIs: Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for data governance and quality, sharing insights and recommendations to improve data processes. Required Skills/Abilities: · Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with data warehousing platforms like Snowflake, AWS Redshift, and MySQL · Proficiency in Python for data analysis, scripting, and automation of data processes. · Knowledge of data quality frameworks and experience working with large-scale data in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP). · Experience with data quality processes and a working knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). · Familiarity with data governance tools and metadata management platforms. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or a related field. 2+ years of relevant experience in Data Governance, Data Engineering, or a similar role, with hands-on experience in implementing data governance practices.
