About the Role The Compliance Operations Lead will be responsible for ensuring compliance with OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) and ensuring that the company remains fully compliant with U.S. sanctions laws and regulations. OFAC Sanctions Screening: Conduct ongoing screening of transactions, customers, vendors, and third parties. And other emerging regulations Analyze flagged matches to assess potential risks, false positives, and escalation needs. Document and escalate potential compliance violations to senior management. Ensure timely and efficient sanctions screening to prevent business delays. Issue Management & Incident Handling: Act as Incident Coordinator for issues arising from sanctions screening, managing escalation and resolution in trade compliance. Ensure timely responses to sanctions-related audits and regulatory inquiries, ensuring compliance with laws. Governance & Change Management: Oversee governance and change management processes for trade compliance technological controls, including IP blocking and related measures. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Stay updated on OFAC sanctions, export controls, embargoes, and restrictions. Assess the impact of new regulations on the organization and implement necessary policy changes. Identify and mitigate compliance risks in the screening process. Maintain comprehensive records for compliance with internal and external standards. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Legal, Risk, Sales, Customer Success, and Cloud Infra teams to address compliance issues. Guide Product and Engineering teams on the impact of sanctions on business relationships. Assist in refining internal processes for effective sanctions-related compliance. Compliance Reporting & Documentation: Prepare reports on screening activities, compliance findings, and corrective actions. Regularly update management on program status, KPIs, and emerging risks. Maintain accurate records of compliance activities for audits and regulatory purposes. Policy Development & Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development and revision of trade compliance policies and procedures. Suggest automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual efforts in sanctions screening. Training & Awareness: Support internal training programs on trade compliance and the importance of OFAC screening. Serve as a resource for employees across departments to clarify compliance matters. SKILLSET Strong understanding of sanctions lists (OFAC SDN, EU, UN, etc.) and the processes for conducting screenings and managing false positives. Familiarity with global trade compliance issues and other international regulations (e.g., EU Sanctions, UN Security Council sanctions, etc.). Ability to interpret complex regulatory language and provide actionable insights to non-legal staff. Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage large volumes of data. REQUIRED QUALIFICATION Minimum of 5 years of experience in trade compliance or regulatory compliance, with a strong focus on OFAC and sanctions screening and should have worked in the US compnay. Solid understanding of U.S. export control laws, OFAC sanctions programs, and other trade compliance regulations such as FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) and ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations). Previous experience with compliance software, sanctions screening tools (e.g., Bridger, etc.), and trade compliance systems is highly desirable. Hands-on experience with transaction screening, risk assessment, and managing compliance risks related to international business and financial transactions.
