The Director will manage and oversee the business development, research, and partnership initiatives. In this senior leadership position, the Director of Advisory services will be responsible for overseeing and leading a team of consultants who will provide expert advice and guidance to clients on a range of business and operational issues. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and deep industry expertise in social impact and sustainability to drive client success and build a thriving advisory practice. We are looking for a communicator, a thinker, and a doer who naturally builds relationships that lead to results. The successful candidate will be able to transition seamlessly from thinking strategically about new business relationships (with donors/clients/investors/INGOs) to managing the relationships and executing new pilot initiatives. We have a small and energetic team, and this means we need someone who will also roll-up-your- sleeves and immerse in the work. We want someone who first and foremost has a positive attitude and is passionate about growing the space through IIX’s work. In addition, she/he is creative, a problem solver, who knows how to push the envelope, and is an incredibly fast learner. The role holder will have P&L responsibility, requiring expertise in managing and delivering on a budget. This also involves a strong passion for business development and a proven track record of successfully closing potential opportunities. The position can be based remotely in India or any other South Asian Country. Responsibilities: ● Advisory Services Maintain and oversee strategic business development initiatives and get involved in driving organization-wide operational efforts such as cultivating partnerships and expanding the company’s network to strengthen market presence and influence. o Develop an understanding of IIX’s strategy and preferred approach for partnerships and program fundraising o Support the Founder and CEO in developing proposals for product development and advisory assignments o Cultivate and close relationships with both individual and corporate partners to enhance IIX’s visibility, access, and influence, while developing a broader platform for further pipeline-building. o Create and direct new business opportunities o Ability to pitch, win, and execute new advisory projects o Able to work with a variety of stakeholders including SMEs, MNCs, INGOs, DFI,s and governmental bodies o Oversee and manage the delivery of advisory assignments for clients ● Service Delivery and Client Management o Oversee the delivery of high-quality advisory services to clients, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. o Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and advocate for client needs. o Proactively identify and address client concerns and challenges. o Develop and implement client service strategies to enhance client satisfaction and loyalty. ● Program Management o Oversee all facets of IIX programs, including coordination with donor agencies and program stakeholders. o Lead the development and refinement of technical content programs and design Identify and drive new business development opportunities, incorporating strategic planning to explore and secure grant funding and additional revenue streams. ● Thought Leadership & Innovation: o Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, and translate that knowledge into innovative solutions for clients. o Develop and share thought leadership content, such as white papers, articles, and presentations, to enhance the company's industry reputation. o Drive continuous improvement within the advisory practice, identifying and implementing new methodologies and tools. ● Team Leadership & Management: o Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of consultants, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. o Recruit, hire, and onboard new talent, ensuring the team has the necessary skills and expertise. o Set performance goals and objectives for the team and conduct regular performance reviews. o Oversee team resource allocation and project assignments to ensure optimal utilization and client satisfaction. Required Qualifications: ● Minimum of 20 years of combined experience in business development, management consulting, or related fields, or an equivalent background. Partner level experience will be considered. ● Established a network of potential partners with a proven portfolio of connections. ● Extensive experience in sales and securing advisory assignments, with a track record of success. ● Proven experience in budget management and financial oversight. ● Expertise in research, writing, and managing projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables. ● Cultural sensitivity and experience working in South and Southeast Asia, with an understanding of regional dynamics. ● Excellent interpersonal skills; strong leadership ability. ● Outstanding presentation and communication skills. ● High comfort level working in a relatively flat, non-hierarchical environment. ● Must be experienced and comfortable working in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. ● Ability to present information in an insightful and structured manner, both written and oral. ● Highly entrepreneurial mindset; self-starter comfortable working in a dynamic environment. ● Desire to work in a collaborative, high-performing team environment, building relationships with other team members and managing a range of responsibilities. ● Must be an effective team manager, and team player, with a passion for entrepreneurship and market-based solutions to poverty, and an understanding of the challenges of investing in the markets we serve. ● Positive and self-motivated attitude. Additional Desired Qualifications: ● Graduate degree in development or financial economics, business administration, or quantitative or technical discipline. A Master’s or an MBA in the relevant field will be beneficial. ● Background in economic development and/or finance ● Academic or professional experience with IIX sector specializations (including renewable energy, inclusive finance, technology access, rural healthcare services, education, water and waste management). ● Fluency or proficiency in one or more regional languages. ● Experience of living or extensive travel in developing countries.
