About The Baby Trunk: The Baby Trunk is Triburg’s Indian retail brand, specializing in unique and high-quality products for children's rooms. We are seeking a talented and experienced Home Designer to lead the design and development of our hard and soft goods collections. This role demands a strong understanding of international design trends, the ability to adapt these trends to the Indian market, and expertise in managing the entire product development lifecycle from concept to final prototype. Job Title:Home Designer (Hard & Soft Goods) Key Responsibilities: Trend Forecasting: Analyze and interpret forecast trends in kids' home decor in India, aligning with international styles and market demands. Market Understanding:Develop a deep understanding of our target market and identify opportunities to differentiate The Baby Trunk from competitors. Conceptualization & Design: Conceptualize and create innovative designs for hard goods (tables, lamps, nursery furniture) and soft goods (cushions, textiles) Technical Design:Produce detailed sketches and tech packs to communicate design specifications effectively. Prototyping: Oversee all prototyping stages, ensuring designs are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and meet quality standards. Factory Coordination: Work closely with factories and suppliers to develop samples that accurately reflect design intent. Sourcing: Identify and source appropriate raw materials and vendors within India to meet design and budget requirements. Prototype Sign-Off: Take accountability for the final approval of prototypes before bulk production. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: * Research and analyze design trends, exhibitions, and market data to inform design direction. * Create seasonal design themes and directional boards that align with global trends and The Baby Trunk's brand aesthetic. * Prepare detailed design briefs that include specifications, mock-ups, materials, measurements, and techniques. * Collaborate with buying teams to ensure a commercially driven and balanced product assortment. * Provide clear styling direction and guidance to the commercial team on product development and coordination. Qualifications & Skills: * Undergraduate degree in Product Design or Interior Design. * Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the home industry. * Proven experience in designing hard and soft goods, ideally within a multi-category retail environment of export brands. * Strong understanding of design processes, manufacturing techniques, and material properties. * Proficiency in CAD tools and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator etc) * Excellent freehand and digital drawing skills. * Strong knowledge of homeware products. * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. * Detail-oriented with strong planning and organizational abilities. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously * A strong portfolio showcasing design skills and experience
