The Dean of Humanities is responsible for providing strategic leadership and management for all departments within the Humanities Division. This role involves overseeing academic programs, faculty, research initiatives, and student services to ensure the highest standards of excellence and innovation. The Dean will collaborate with department heads, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to enhance the quality of education and research within the division. Key Responsibilities: -Leadership and Management: - Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for all humanities departments. Oversee the development and implementation of academic policies, programs, and initiatives. - Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. - Promote interdisciplinary collaboration within the humanities and with other divisions. -Academic and Research Excellence: – Ensure the delivery of high-quality academic programs that meet the needs of students and the community. - Support faculty in their teaching, research, and professional development activities. - Encourage and facilitate research initiatives, securing funding and resources to support faculty and student research. -Faculty and Staff Development: - Recruit, retain, and develop a diverse and highly qualified faculty and staff. - Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to faculty and staff. - Encourage professional growth and development opportunities for all team members. - Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment. -Resource Management: - Develop and manage the Humanities Division's budget, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources. - Seek external funding through grants, partnerships, and fundraising activities. -Collaboration and Outreach: - Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other academic divisions, industry partners, and community organizations. - Represent the Humanities Division in university-wide committees, meetings, and events. -Qualifications: - A doctoral degree in a relevant humanities/social science ( Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Economics etc.) discipline. - A distinguished record of teaching, research, and service appropriate for a senior faculty appointment. - Proven leadership and administrative experience in higher education. - Strong commitment to academic excellence and student success. - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
