Job Description

Job Summary: The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of instrumentation and control systems used in dairy processing. This includes automation systems, PLCs, sensors, flow meters, and other equipment essential for ensuring process efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities: 1. Installation & Maintenance: Install, commission, and configure sensors, transmitters, flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature controllers, pH meters, and other process instruments. Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for all instrumentation and control systems. Ensure smooth functioning of PLC, SCADA, HMI, and DCS systems used in dairy processing. Maintain records of calibration and maintenance activities. 2. Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and resolve faults in automation and control systems to minimize downtime. Work with electrical and mechanical teams to address instrument-related breakdowns. Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) of instrument failures and implement corrective actions. 3. Process Optimization & Automation: Collaborate with production and quality teams to enhance process efficiency through automation. Recommend upgrades and modifications to improve reliability and accuracy of instrumentation systems. Monitor and optimize CIP (Clean-in-Place) systems , pasteurizers, homogenizers, refrigeration units, and other dairy processing equipment. 4. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with dairy industry standards (e.g., FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, GMP). Maintain proper documentation for calibration, instrument history, and compliance reports. Follow safety protocols and ensure all instrumentation complies with regulatory guidelines. 5. Vendor Coordination & Procurement: Work with suppliers and vendors to source spare parts, sensors, and automation components . Evaluate new technologies and recommend cost-effective instrumentation solutions. Key Skills & Competencies: ✅ Strong knowledge of instrumentation & control systems in food/dairy processing. ✅ Expertise in PLC programming, SCADA, DCS, and automation systems . ✅ Experience in working with flow, temperature, pressure, and pH measurement instruments . ✅ Knowledge of electrical schematics, control loops, and troubleshooting techniques . ✅ Understanding of dairy processing equipment (pasteurizers, separators, evaporators, etc.). ✅ Familiarity with ISO 22000, HACCP, and GMP regulations . ✅ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Qualifications & Experience: Education: B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering. Experience: 3-7 years in the dairy/food/beverage industry.
