Area of responsibilities : Responsible to perform, analyse and release of reports for power system study required for substation and transmission lines as per business requirements. Power system study requirement include, concept design study substation and transmission line which includes but not limited to followings – Transmission Line Electrical Design Study : Conductor selection and sizing including following- -Calculation of electrical resistance in direct current (dc) and alternate current (ac) at the requested temperatures. -Calculation of current transmission capacity in normal and emergency conditions. -Calculation of critical gradient -Calculation of surface gradient -Calculation of radio interference -Calculation of audible noise -Calculation of electric field strength -Calculation of magnetic flux density -Calculation of losses due to the corona effect -Calculation of joule losses -Breakdown stress of the conductor -Shield wire/OPGW selection and sizing calculation -Sag tension calculation effect on transmission tower design -Insulation co-ordination study of transmission line – selection of insulator, clearance, shield wire position check etc.. -Lightening protection of transmission line -Grounding system of transmission line -Factors affecting the transmission line geometry. -Calculation of transmission line parameters -Over all transmission performance and grid stability. Substation Electrical Design Study : -Insulation co-ordination study. -Load Flow, Short Circuit Study. -Transformer, Reactor sizing study. -Circuit Breaker PIR Selection, -Surge arrester location and rating validation, -Grounding System study. -EMF Study -Harmonics Study -Protection co-ordination study. -Relay setting study. -Electro Magnetic Transient Analysis -Over all transmission performance and grid stability. In hand experience of various power system related software like PLSCADD, EMTP, ETAP, CYMGRD, etc. Good knowledge of international references like IEC, IEEE, CIGRE, ASTM, EN, BS, EPRI etc. along with other relevant standards used for study. Active involvement in bid stage proposal study, participation in technical discussion with various stake holders (pre bid & post Bid) To prepare technical documentation required for tendering and project. To ensure timely completion of the design activities as per the tender/project schedule. To explore savings through designing at all the stages of design activities. Be updated about new technologies to enhance/ improve the quality and speed of designs. Responsible for in-house training of design engineers, thereby increasing the base strength. Leadership and engineering process implementation in the organisation. Engineering Quality control, On Time Delivery (OTD) and optimum utilisation of resources. Team competency development. Review of Electrical drawings and calculations. Interaction with customer, vendors and interdepartmental division to complete the task. Equipment Selection, Preparation of technical specification. Technical vetting of equipment and outsourced engineered drawings. Interface engg. i.e. with Civil Engg. / Structure engg. Inspection of equipment before dispatch. Bill of Material preparation for tenders. ISO-9001(2000) implementation as per company policy. Getting approval of design & engg. Documents from customer. Giving technical support to Project Management/Supply Chain Management/ Site management and some special case as per Organisation need. Competences: Problem Solving Good Communication Skills Integrity/Honesty Skills: Proficient in MS Office applications, AUTO CAD, PLSCADD, EMTP, ETAP, CYMGRD, etc. Qualification : BE/ B.Tech– Electrical Engg. / M. Tech - Power System. Experience: 05-10 yrs experience in power system study of Substation and Transmission Line 132 kV and above for international projects.
