Overview of the position As part of Spices PL business, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for bringing ofi’s products from concept to shelf. This role will specifically manage all new projects conceptualized out of India for sales into USA in multiple retail categories. Position Responsibilities Identify Export Opportunities : Develop opportunities for exporting food & beverage products from India based on sales data and customer feedback. Commercialization Management: Oversee the end-to-end commercialization process from concept to shelf, including setting up projects in ofi’s workflow tool and ensuring cross-functional partners complete their tasks on time. Project Timelines : Develop and communicate project timelines to all stakeholders. Stakeholder Alignment: Influence and drive alignment among team members and key stakeholders, including leadership, marketing, sales, supply chain, quality, and R&D. Costing & Prioritization: Cost out identified opportunities, vet them with cross-functional teams, and prioritize categories based on revenue potential, winnability, and margin. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges that could impact product commercialization and develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks. Feasibility & Launch Calls: Lead regular “Feasibility” calls to manage the project lifecycle before customer acceptance. Lead regular “Launch” calls to manage the project lifecycle after customer acceptance. Product Launch: Ensure products are launched on time and within specifications. Project Documentation: Serve as the gatekeeper for a single source of truth on projects in the pipeline. R&D Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D function to ensure product development aligns with market needs, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing capabilities. Manufacturing Collaboration: Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure efficient and effective production of high-quality products and troubleshoot any production-related issues. Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned. Experience & Qualification Education: Master’s degree in business from a premier B-school. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of post-MBA experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Food Science, or a related field. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting findings and recommendations to diverse audiences. Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools. Experience with SAP, Salesforce, TaskRay, and Specright is a plus. Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals. Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adept at adjusting to changing priorities and market conditions. Travel: Willingness to travel frequently within the country. Stakeholder Engagement: Mature in working internally with stakeholders across different locations and functions. Capable of collaborating closely with the US team across different time zones.
