Job Title : OTC Sales Officer Department : Sales & Marketing Reports To : Area Sales Manager / Regional Sales Manager Location : Shimla Job Summary : The OTC Sales Officer is responsible for promoting and selling the company’s over-the-counter (OTC) products to retail pharmacies, chemists, and other distribution channels. This role involves building strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring product availability, driving sales, and increasing brand awareness in the designated region. Key Responsibilities : Sales & Distribution : Promote and sell OTC products (such as pain relief medications, vitamins, skincare products, etc.) to retail pharmacies, chemists, and other retail outlets. Ensure products are stocked and displayed optimally in retail outlets. Achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth in the assigned territory. Customer Relationship Management : Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, including pharmacy owners, retailers, and wholesalers. Provide support and assistance to customers regarding product knowledge and use. Conduct regular visits to pharmacies and retail stores to ensure product availability and proper placement. Market Expansion & Penetration : Identify new business opportunities and potential customers to expand market reach. Work towards increasing market penetration and expanding the company’s footprint in the assigned region. Gather competitive intelligence and market trends to support strategy development. Product Knowledge & Training : Stay updated on product information, features, and benefits. Conduct product training for retail staff to ensure they are knowledgeable and confident in selling OTC products. Educate customers on the advantages of OTC products over alternatives. Reporting & Documentation : Provide regular reports on sales activities, market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback. Maintain accurate records of sales visits, customer interactions, and transactions. Update and maintain CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems with accurate information. Stock Management : Monitor stock levels and work with distributors or wholesalers to ensure timely product delivery and availability. Ensure proper inventory control to avoid stockouts or overstock situations. Promotional Activities : Implement promotional strategies and campaigns at the retail level to drive product visibility and increase sales. Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and other marketing events to promote OTC products. Skills & Qualifications : Educational Qualification : Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or related field (preferred). Graduate in any discipline with a strong interest in the pharmaceutical sector is also considered. Experience : 1 to 3 years of experience in sales, preferably in the OTC pharmaceutical sector. Previous experience in retail or direct sales is an added advantage. Skills : Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Good negotiation and selling abilities. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Basic knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and OTC products. Customer-centric approach with a focus on relationship-building. Other Requirements : Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned region. Good understanding of local markets and customer behavior. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) : Sales Target Achievement. Increase in market share and product penetration. Number of new accounts opened. Customer satisfaction and feedback. Inventory management and stock levels. Frequency and quality of customer visits. Working Conditions : Full-time position with frequent travel. Flexibility in working hours as per business requirements. The position might require weekend work depending on market demand.
