Position Summary: As a Packaging Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation related to packaging components and products. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure that all technical materials meet industry standards and effectively communicate complex packaging concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. The responsibilities include creating, editing, and maintaining clear, concise, and accurate engineering technical documentation and optimizing engineering documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design specifications and project requirements, assisting engineering team to create and revise technical drawings and documents, and continuously improve technical execution of world-class design production to support our customers.Key Responsibilities: Write, edit, and maintain technical documents including user manuals, Work Instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production floor, technical specifications, product datasheets, design guide and packaging technical documentation. Work closely with cross functional team members (design engineers, production, and procurement teams) to gather technical information and component specifications and ensure that it meets internal standards, regulatory requirements and accuracy of documentation. Work closely with engineering teams and subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate complex technical concepts into clear, easy-to-understand language for a wide audience, including customers, end-users, and other stakeholders. Create and maintain Engineering documents for packaging components, subassemblies, and finished products using appropriate software tools (e.g., ERP system, PLM software, Internal systems). Update BOM and technical documents as changes occur, incorporating revisions, additions, or deletions as necessary. Maintain detailed records of technical documentation, including part numbers and revisions, descriptions, specifications, etc. Communicate revisions changes, and discrepancies to relevant stakeholders, including design engineers, procurement teams, manufacturing personnel and other team members. Maintain version control for documentation and track changes throughout product lifecycles. Provide training and support to internal teams on newly created documents, documentation standards and the use of technical documents. Utilize data analysis and reporting tools to monitor technical documentation metrics, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Conduct regular reviews of Work Instructions, SOP’s, engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to verify accuracy, completeness, and risk assessments to identify potential issues and recommend solutions to ensure adherence to design standards, technical guidelines, customer requirements, and report non-conformances. Act as the primary point of contact for all technical documentation related inquiries, feedback, packaging or documentation related issues and updates from stakeholders, customers, and project teams. Communicate project status, milestones, and deliverables to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner. Proactively address stakeholder concerns, manage expectations, and seek opportunities to exceed customer or organizational expectations through design/ documentation excellence. Identify opportunities and implement best practices to streamline Documentation management, standardize Engineering document formats and develop documentation guidelines to improve consistency and clarity, improve efficiency, and enhance document control practices. Spearhead in developing KPI’s when developing and implementing new documentation or changing engineering specifications or documents. Manage multiple projects concurrently, from initial concept through production release, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards. Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and take proactive measures to keep projects on track. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and professional growth. Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes, methodologies, and tools. Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.Education/Knowledge/Skills/Experience Desired: Bachelor’s degree in Packaging/ Mechanical/ Manufacturing/ Industrial engineering or related field. Additional certifications or training in document management is a plus. 3-4 years of experience in technical writing, with a focus on packaging/mechanical systems/ industrial engineering, or product documentation and knowledge of production environment. Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills (English language). Excellent English writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner. Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and interpreting technical drawings. Strong understanding of crate or wooden packaging, packaging design, distribution packaging, package testing/qualification, and resolving packaging related issues. Knowledge of packaging testing, design standards (ISO, Mil-spec, etc.), ASTM/ ISTA standards, transportation, and material handling for small and large equipment. Strong technical understanding of protective packaging materials, cushion design, distribution environment, failure mechanisms, analytical techniques, and manufacturing processes. General knowledge of cleanroom acceptable packaging materials is a plus. Knowledge and understanding of GD&T standards e.g., ASME Y14.5. for drafting and detailing engineering drawings and components, is a plus. Ability to use tape measure and measure accurately. A variety of measuring equipment like Tape measurer, calipers, and scales to record design requirements for customer parts. Strong creative vision, design sensibility, and ability to conceptualize and execute innovative design solutions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving results and achieving project objectives. High attention to detail and deadline-driven.
