The Manager - Testing in IPCL will oversee electrical distribution systems testing, commissioning, and quality assurance. This role will ensure that all equipment and systems function effectively and comply with industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.What does this role entail?Testing & Commissioning Develop and implement Testing strategies in line with the loading of a Distribution system. Design and execute comprehensive test plans for various components of the power distribution system including Sub-Stations (PTRs, CBs, Relays, etc.), Distribution Circuits & Lines (OH & UG), Switchgears (IIkV, 33kV, 132kV and 220kV), Protective Devices (fuse, CBs), Meters & Instrumentations. Maintain and operate various measuring instruments used for testing of the electrical system Carry out scheduled tests of 220/132/33 kV EHV substation as per the grid code Testing of numerical relays of EHV substation and report generation. Oversee the calibration and maintenance of testing equipment Review control schematics. Calculation of settings of relays with FLA. Analyze DR file data and troubleshoot. Develop and maintain testing procedures and checklists. Prepare and submit test reports and documentation. Analyze system failures and report to the In-charge in case of exception finding Carry out root cause analysis of system’s feeder tripping including failure of equipment. Plan and manage testing activities within project timelines and budget. Research and evaluate new testing technologies and methodologies. Quality Assurance, Safety & Compliance Conduct quality control checks on all test data and reports Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards. Team Management Supervise and mentor a team of testing engineers and technicians Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of testing activities.Some key attributes desired of this role Education & Experience Graduate in Electrical Engineering 10+ years’ experience in power distribution testing with at least 3-4 years in a managerial role. Technical Proficiency In-depth knowledge of power system engineering principles including power system analysis, electrical protection and control, high voltage engineering, relay coordination, and grading. Proven experience in conducting various types of electrical tests such as high potential tests, IR tests, PD tests, Relay testing, Numerical relays, DR file analysis, and Protective device testing. A good idea of 220/132kV AIS/GIS system, SLD, layout, cable schedule, and operation of EHV equipment including GIS up to 220kV.
