ob Description: Transmission Engineer – Vehicle Dynamics & Powertrain Position: Transmission Engineer – Vehicle Dynamics & Powertrain Location: Bangalore Reports to: Vehicle Dynamics Lead & Powertrain Lead Department: Mechanical EngineeringAbout the Role: As a Transmission Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of vehicle transmission systems, including belt drives, chain drives, and geared drives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure that all transmission systems meet internal and external requirements while contributing to innovative and efficient vehicle performance. This role will provide the opportunity to lead transmission subsystem development from concept to production, playing a crucial role in our vehicle dynamics and powertrain engineering efforts.Key Responsibilities: 1. Develop and collaborate with vendor partners to design belt drives, chain drives, and geared drives.2. Write detailed System of Requirements (SOR) for the transmission subsystem.3. Create innovative test plans reflecting real-world use cases and application scenarios.4. Liaise with suppliers to meet internal release schedules and testing milestones.5. Define End of Line (EOL) requirements for vendors to ensure quality and efficiency in production.6. Manage all internal interfaces and lead Interaction Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).7. Draft and execute a Design Validation Plan (DVP) for the transmission systems.8. Coordinate testing and validation processes to ensure timelines are met and system reliability is assured.9. Apply root cause analysis tools (Pareto chart, Ishikawa diagram, 5 Whys, FMEA) to identify and resolve issues, prioritizing bugs based on impact from Field > Assembly > Material.10. Develop cost-effective, reliable, and fast solutions within production constraints.11. Conduct simulations, modeling, and analysis to optimize transmission design and vehicle performance.12. Perform transmission calculations to assess the feasibility of different motor-transmission configurations within packaging constraints.Requirements: 1. Experience in selecting and designing transmission systems.2. Expertise in designing transmission elements such as pulleys, gears, chains, belts, shafts, bearings, seals, and housings.3. Proficiency in Design for Excellence (DFx) for transmission components such as motors, gears, sprockets, and belts.4. Familiarity with transmission development requirements management, risk assessment, and interface management.5. Knowledge of manufacturing process selection for transmission components.6. Awareness of industry standards relevant to powertrain and transmission systems.Qualifications & Experience: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Machine Design, or related field (BTech/BE/MTech/ME).• 2-5 years of relevant experience working on transmission systems in a mechanical engineering environment
