Avalara’s Product Security organization is looking for a Technical Privacy Manager to lead our data security and technical privacy program. You will lead a team of experienced engineers whose mission is to ensure that our products are designed with AI, data security and privacy controls. You will work with our engineering and AI data analytics organizations to define privacy and data security requirements and help implement privacy-by-design at scale in our platform and services environments. This is a unique opportunity to make impacts to our overall security and regulatory posture and lead the strategic direction and evolution of our privacy program across our platform and servicesYou will report to VP SecurityLead and manage a team of technical privacy engineers focused on incorporating data privacy and security controls into product design processes. Mentor junior engineers.Manage a team that creates privacy and anonymization features into datastore, IAM/IDM, and application-layer technologies.You will create quality written work product and engineering artifacts for all customers.You will be a subject matter expert and ambassador to Avalara Engineering on privacy engineering, anonymization and encryption technologies.You will partner with engineering, legal, compliance, and other security teams to ensure privacy and security features are integrated into all stages of the product lifecycle.B.S. in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related fieldProgramming skills in at least one of Java, Go, Python, .NETKnowledge of relational and non-relational database, and analytics technologiesIn-house experience working with SDLC, and microservice-based platformsWorking knowledge of data encryption, masking, and anonymization techniques8+ years of management experience, and 15+ years of engineering experienceQualificationsDeep technical ability, and history of successful execution in technical privacy, product or application security within your former rolesFamiliarity with AI, Snowflake, and AWS and GCP analytics servicesPrevious experience translating privacy regulations such as EU GDPR, related regulatory standards, and PIAs (Privacy Impact Analyses) into deliverable product security features#LI-RemoteThis is a remote role.
