Job DescriptionRole SummaryWSP wishes to recruit a Senior Drainage Engineer to join ‘UK ICRC Communities/ Local Government team, which provides detailed highway and drainage designs for both adoptable and private roads and infrastructure. ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate’s role will be as a senior engineering designer within the 'UKiCRC Local Government / Communities' team producing detailed drainage designs andconstruction drawings for various UK projects. You will be expected to lead the designprocess and to be active on a number of projects at any given time. You will have direct line management (upto 6 members), including mentoring and managing early career professionals ensuring technical excellence is in everything we deliver. Key Competencies / Skills:Mandatory skillsDemonstrable experience in at least 3 of the following areas:Drainage Engineering & DesignDevelopment Infrastructure DesignHighway DrainageDesign of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS)Hydraulic Design and ModellingPreparation of Development Drainage StrategiesYou will be computer literate having a working knowledge of drainage design software such as:Causeway Flow - At least 3 years of mandatory working experience in hydraulic design is required.Autodesk Civil 3D – Alt least 3 years of mandatory experience in 3D modelling of ponds, ditches and drainage networks.Micro Drainage, Info drainage, SewerGEMS or similar software packages. A proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Word and MS Excel is also expected.Basic knowledge of drawing production in AutoCAD.Cultural awareness, an open mind and good English communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team. You will be quick to pick up new ideas and skills and be able to think laterally to generate new solutions to problems.Desired SkillsA good knowledge of UK design codes and legislation such as Sewers for Adoption and well versed in the preparation of drawings for Section 104 technical approval/adoptions.Flexibility to work on non-drainage highways design. Knowledge of UK highway design including design to gain S38 and S278 technical approvals would be advantageous.Design of UK domestic drainage schemes and external works to gain building regulation approval.QualificationsYou will have a bachelor’s or post graduate degree in Civil Engineering with 6-12 years working experience.post-graduate experience with a consultancy or developer.Working towards a recognized professional qualificationMandatory SkillsCauseway Flow, Civil 3D, SuDS, Storm Water Drainage, Drainage, Micro Drainage Software, Foul Sewer, communication skills, AutoCAD, excelDesirable SkillsWater Treatment, Sewage Treatment, Culverts, Highways, Flood Assessments, S38 & S278, UK Standards.
