Job Description : SAN Automotive is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Design Manager to lead our design and engineering team. This individual will oversee the design and development of tooling and components for our sheet metal stamping and metal fabrication processes, ensuring that the products meet the highest industry standards. The Senior Design Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams and work directly with customers to ensure product designs are innovative, cost-effective, and manufacturable. Responsibilities : Lead the design and development of new sheet metal components, including tooling and product designs for automotive and non-automotive industries. Manage a team of design engineers and ensure that all design projects are completed on time and within budget. Work closely with internal teams, including production, quality, and NPD (New Product Development), to ensure designs meet customer specifications and manufacturability. Ensure the design team follows industry standards and customer specifications, maintaining high-quality standards. Review and approve detailed drawings, blueprints, and prototypes for new tooling and components. Evaluate and select materials for product design, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality. Manage the design changes, approvals, and documentation for all projects. Conduct design reviews with OEM and Tier 1 customers to ensure the final product meets their requirements. Ensure that all designs comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Mentor and guide junior designers, providing technical support and fostering their professional growth. Qualifications & Requirements : Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field. 10-12 years of experience in design engineering, with a focus on sheet metal stamping and metal fabrication. Expertise in CAD software (AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar). In-depth knowledge of product design, materials, and tooling for the automotive industry. Strong leadership skills with experience managing design teams and cross-functional collaboration. Proven ability to work with OEM and Tier 1 customers, understanding their specific requirements and expectations. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
