Job Description:As the Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting you will have a hybrid role working with both the SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting clients’ teams. This role will primarily be responsible for researching and documenting technical accounting analyses of complex transactions and preparing financial statement disclosures and related reporting under the U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) to assist with completing required financial documents for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings and other regulatory requirements. You will also be responsible for assisting in the adoption of new accounting standards and the revision of accounting policies as well as assisting with financial reporting under International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS).Responsibilities:Manage and prepare the external SEC financial statements and filing processes, including drafting of financial statements, equity roll forward, EPS calculation, footnotes, and Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), completing SEC and GAAP checklists to include in quarterly reviewed and annually audited financial statements, ensuring compliance under U.S. GAAP and the SEC reporting requirements, as applicableOversee technical accounting research and documentation of new accounting guidance, policies and procedures impacting the client’s financial statements.Monitor the activities of all accounting standard setting bodies, including the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the SEC, and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), and support analysis of the accounting and reporting effects of new standards.Research the accounting/disclosure requirements of new accounting standards and transactions, considering relevant accounting literature and the effect of the new standard or transaction on the client’s accounting policies and financial documents.Work with clients and external auditors to collect information and input into the above referenced reports; coordinate, review and collect comments on the various drafts; prepare support files for all disclosures; challenge the appropriateness of disclosures; complete all relevant disclosure checklists and reporting questionnaires.Provide training, mentoring and participation in all aspects of external public company reportingOrganize and communicate status related to assignments and projectsSuccessful candidates will have the following attributes and skills:Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely express ideas both verbally and in writingStrong attention to detailComplete discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive informationAbility to take initiative to identify, prioritize and implement all elements required for the team to fulfill responsibilities according to core strategic goalsAbility to research and interpret accounting guidance and draft accounting memos to support conclusions, with support from technical accounting consultants as neededStrong analytical skills to solve problems effectively and creatively while maintaining a high level of flexibility, professionalism, and integrityEffectively address any issue in collaboration with others as appropriate and actively identify and prevent potential problemsAbility to work well under pressure and effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilitiesAbility to coordinate between various clientsStrong US GAAP acumen and understanding of financial reporting (SEC, 10-K, 10-Q, proxys)Excellent organization and problem-solving skills and the ability to independently prioritize multiple tasks and bring projects to completionThe ability to sustain productivity in a fast-paced environment, maintain composure and focus under pressure and deadlinesA proactive approach to problem identification and remediation solutions, including the ability to interact and build relationships Minimum qualifications:Eight (8) years of related progressive experience in public accounting or a mix in similar accounting fieldProficiency with disaggregating, analyzing, and reconciling consolidated financial data in an accurate and timely mannerUnderstanding of general accounting policies and procedures at a transaction levelCandidate must have direct experience with SEC reporting (Regulation S-X and S-K) and preparation of financial statements and footnotes of public companiesProficient in Microsoft Office software applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPointThe following are minimum required:Bachelor's degree in AccountingEight (8) years of relevant leadership experience, Big 4 or large regional experience preferredExperience leading teams and multiple projectsExperience with SEC reporting, working with Workiva (WDesk) or similar SEC reporting toolsExperience working with general ledger systems and reporting packagesAn active CPA, CA or equivalentCohnReznick’s CFO Accounting and Advisory team is experiencing high growth.
