Job Overview:We are seeking a highly experienced Elephant Specialist Veterinarian / Project Manager to lead and manage a telemedicine and in situ treatment system for captive elephants in temples across Karnataka. The ideal candidate will combine veterinary expertise, project management skills, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the health and welfare of elephants under their care.Key Responsibilities:Veterinary Care & TreatmentOversee and implement remote telemedicine consultations for captive elephants in temples.Develop and execute in situ treatment plans in coordination with temple authorities, elephant caretakers (mahouts), and local veterinarians.Conduct field visits to assess health conditions, perform medical interventions, and provide training to local caregivers.Maintain comprehensive medical records and health monitoring systems for all elephants under the program.Project Management & CoordinationDevelop and manage the telemedicine platform and ensure its smooth operation.Coordinate with government authorities, Elephant Owners, and other stakeholders for regulatory compliance and collaborative efforts.Design training programs for mahouts, veterinary teams, and temple staff on best practices in elephant health and welfare.Prepare reports, funding proposals, and strategic plans for program sustainability and expansion.Qualifications & Skills:Veterinary degree (BVSc & AH / MVSc) with a specialization in large animals or wildlife.Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in treating and managing captive elephants.At least 10 years of experience working with the Karnataka Forest Department.Experience in telemedicine and remote health monitoring systems is a strong advantage.Proven project management experience, including budgeting, stakeholder coordination, and report writing.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with mahouts, temple authorities, government agencies, and conservation organizations.Ability to work in challenging field conditions and travel extensively within Karnataka.Compensation & Benefits:Competitive salary based on experience.Travel and fieldwork allowances.Opportunity to work with a dedicated team committed to elephant welfare.Application Process:Interested candidates should submit their CV, cover letter, and two references to
