Congregation Schara Tzedeck is looking for a dynamic associate Rabbi to join and grow our Torah Community. Schara Tzedeck is the largest and most established Orthodox synagogue in Western Canada and has been a cornerstone of the Vancouver Jewish Community for over 116 years. We have a membership base of over 500 families, beautiful and modernized facilities including banquet halls, kitchens and a mikvah, a supportive and engaged staff, and the shul is financially secure. The OpportunityThe Associate Rabbi will from his first day have the opportunity to impact and grow our Torah community as well as foster and expand his skills as a congregational Rabbi. In addition to leading services, giving Halachic instruction/ guidance and giving Shiurim, he will be able to use his own initiative and creativity to develop and implement programming for adults, young professionals and young families to engage our community in Kiruv and Torah education. The Associate Rabbi will benefit from the mentorship and guidance of Rabbi Andrew Rosenblatt, our Senior Rabbi of 22 years. ResponsibilitiesThe Associate Rabbi will assist the senior Rabbi in the performance of his pulpit duties and meeting the spiritual requirements of the membership including attending and being available to lead daily minyanim and Shabbat services, delivering drashot on Shabbat when requested, and providing halacha classes between mincha and maariv and other classes as requested by members.The successful candidate will also spearhead and enhance our adult Torah education programming and lead the Bnai Mitzvah Program. He will also lead outreach/ Kiruv programs with the aim of increasing participation in Minyanim and Shiurim, as well as programs and social activities both within the membership and the larger Jewish community. Additionally, he will assist the senior Rabbi in supervising and maintaining all of the halachic aspects for which our congregation has community responsibility for including the eruv and mikveh. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, works well in a team environment, with great interpersonal skills who can develop programs across a range of Jewish education levels, encourage spiritual growth for our members, eager to provide shabbat and holiday hospitality and engage with the wider community, particularly with our growing population of young families and young professionals.
