About the Role: The Field Mechanical Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the installation, commissioning, and hand over of plumbing and mechanical systems for new construction projects. This role involves reviewing mechanical schedules, drawings and schematics throughout the construction process and to help implement systems that comply with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications. The coordinator will collaborate closely with other construction supervisors, project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure the proper operation of mechanical systems prior to project completion. As we are a highly collaborative team, this role is on-site full-time, and the successful candidate will be required to work in the office / on-site Monday to Friday . Responsibilities: Work closely with MEP Coordinators to ensure equipment and material procurement, release and delivery procedures are followed Review all mechanical shop drawings prior of release for production, to ensure specifications and space requirements are properly allocated for project use Coordinate with project managers, architects, and engineers to integrate plumbing and mechanical systems with other construction activities Review plans for all sleeving in concrete in advance of the concrete pour and during layout and construction of walls and ceiling Schedule and supervise plumbing and mechanical work to meet project timelines as per project schedule Assist in the handover of the Project from Construction to Property Management Supervise and coordinate the plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians to ensure best practices are followed Monitor progress, and ensure quality workmanship Supervise the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and fittings and mechanical systems, including HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, etc. Ensure all installations meet safety and building codes, project and property management requirements Conduct regular inspections and attend consultant inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies in plumbing and mechanical systems Coordinate with inspectors and regulatory agencies to ensure all work passes required inspections Implement and enforce safety protocols for all plumbing and mechanical work Ensure compliance with local regulations Maintain accurate records of all work performed and inspections passed Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to plumbing and mechanical systems Provide technical expertise and support for difficult or unusual problems Implement corrective actions to address deficiencies and prevent future issues Qualifications and Experiences: Minimum of 5 years of experience in plumbing and mechanical systems in a construction environment Experience with high-rise construction projects is required High school diploma or equivalent required Additional certifications in project management and safety (e.g., OSHA) are advantageous Strong understanding of plumbing and mechanical systems, including current technologies and methods Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings Proficiency in using project management software and other relevant tools Leadership and team management skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail Detailed note taking and tracking of deliverables Ability to work on construction sites, with exposure to varying weather conditions Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to meet project deadlines Physical ability to perform tasks that may require walking, lifting, climbing Why Fitzrovia: Fitzrovia is a vertically integrated development and asset manager focused on Class-A and vintage-style apartment buildings across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Montreal.
