This is a unique chance to be a part of cutting-edge research in plant breeding and seed development. You will gain valuable experience supporting both molecular lab operations and greenhouse/field activities , with a focus on canola breeding. This is a temporary role perfect for science graduates looking to grow their hands-on research experience in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: DNA extraction and lab work (PCR setup, molecular biology techniques) Greenhouse tasks: planting, plant care (staking, tying, pruning) Leaf tissue collection in greenhouse/field Controlled crossing: CMS and emasculation techniques Plant harvesting, threshing, grain cleaning Seed inventory tasks: labeling, weighing, packaging Seed treatment application (as needed) Field preparation and maintenance tasks (as needed) Support for data collection and note-taking Possible driving of company vehicle for work-related tasks Assist with cage constructions and other field prep work Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in a Science field required (Biology preferred) Prior lab experience, especially with DNA isolation , PCR , and lab automation Familiarity with molecular biology techniques Strong computer proficiency and organizational skills Attention to detail with the ability to multitask Effective communication and interpersonal skills Self-motivated, adaptable, and team-oriented Ability to work in hot environments (3035C) and perform physically demanding tasks Must have reliable transportation (no public transit available) Must be safety-conscious and willing to work overtime when required
