Toronto''s new Ontario Line subway is now under construction. The Connect 6ix consortium has a key role in this project, delivering the trains, the signaling system, and the operations, storage, and maintenance facility. Connect 6ix will also operate the Ontario Line for a 30-year term once it comes into service. Role Overview The Risk and Variation Coordinator is responsible for implementing and managing the Variation process, ensuring timely and accurate documentation submission of all impact such as cost and schedule. This role involves close collaboration with project teams, the Project Control Manager, and the Contract Manager to address potential issues and support negotiations. Additionally, the coordinator will identify, assess, and prioritize project risks, develop risk management plans, and facilitate communication between stakeholders to ensure project alignment and successful delivery. Roles and Responsibilities: Variations (Change) Implement Variation process with the CJV team members to ensure Variations assessment and estimate (cost and schedule impacts) are quantified, properly documented and submitted to the client in a timely manner. Work closely with project teams to anticipate and address potential issues arising from Variations. Work closely with the Project Control Manager and the Contract Manager to provide timely submissions and information to assist negotiations with the client. Work with the Cost Control Lead and the Project Scheduler to update the project budget and schedule accordingly once each Variation is confirmed with the client. Communicate the scope of each Variation with field supervision and ensure time and progress is properly getting captured. Track any potential changes with subcontractors which may be transferred/escalated to client through a Variation. Ensure any adjustments related to the Variation are communicated to the CJV team, incorporated, tracked, and closed out correctly. Maintain the Variation register with the current status of each variation, and ensure key indicators are being communicated. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all Variation Enquiries and Notices, Confirmation, and associated communications. Support the Contract Manager in writing contractual correspondence related to Variation. Have a good understanding of the contractual requirements to identify and understand any potential Variation Risks Coordinate with project stakeholders to support the identification, assessment, and prioritization of project risks throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate in the development and implementation of risk management plans, addressing regulatory compliance, environmental impacts, and contractual risks. Work closely with project teams to help minimize budget overruns, schedule delays, and quality issues through the coordination of risk mitigation measures. Track risk indicators and analyze based on project progress, providing updates to the Risk Lead and ensuring that mitigation strategies are adjusted when needed. Facilitate communication between project teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure alignment and the successful delivery of the project. Ensure adherence to safety management systems, policies, and procedures, supporting the project''s commitment to safety. Contribute to the development of the Risk Breakdown Structure (RBS), ensuring alignment with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) to enable comprehensive risk management across project tasks and costs. Assist with cost and schedule risk modeling, supporting the team''s efforts to conduct risk analysis and interpret results. Skills and Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field Minimum of 5-years of experience in construction project coordination, project controls (estimate/cost and schedule), risk management, quantity survey, or a specialized position supporting or managing the change management process Sound understanding of Project Controls or Change Management requirements on major projects within the construction industry Claims experience in substantiating cost and schedule impact on major projects of a complex nature Understanding of construction project lifecycles and processes.
